Nzoner's Game Room>Illegal Hits
Hamwallet 03:41 PM 12-01-2024
How about this…

“If you do an illegal hit during a NFL game you are suspended until the player you hurt is ready to play again. You also are responsible for that players salary during that time.”

I think that would stop a bunch of crap.

“Fuck me, I owe Patrick Mahomes 45 million dollars?!”

You said illegal hit. What is your definition of that? Is hitting a defenseless receiver illegal? It’s a 15 yard penalty. Which RTP penalties are considered illegal and which ones aren’t?

I'm curious what the Jaguars' #22 did to get ejected. I can't find him in the video at all.

That zero-worth #0 for the Texans should be suspended for the rest of the season. The sport has no place for losers like that.

It had to be the fight afterwards. I was watching live and couldn’t figure it out.

Well disciplined players back in the day :-)

How do you police “intent”?

It’s less about policing intent and more about clear guidelines about what is an illegal hit. The rules are largely in place. I tend to agree that maybe the consequences aren’t as severe as they should be. Knocking offensive players out is an easy way to cheat. The saints in their bountygate game knocked Kurt Warner out and crippled Favre in their playoff path. For as much as people freaked out about the hip drop you don’t see people doing it anymore. Just teach good wrap up tackling and playing the ball.

I thought I heard he came off the bench and threw a punch/punches.

Some of you are just soft which reflects a lot of society nowadays.

It's a violent game. There's enough rules in place for player safety already. Injuries will happen and that's not going to change. Cheap hits will continue to happen here and there as well. It's just the nature of the sport for good or bad.

Don't like it go watch volleyball.

It’s not about being soft. I love watching bone crushing hits. But I care about the quality of play way way more and that suffers big time when superstars aren’t on the field. And I care about competitive integrity and knocking superstars out of the game will always be a cheap but easy way to get an advantage, and we saw one example in New Orleans where they did it successfully.

I am not aware of many people who would support any cheap shot hits. Hard tackles? Yes? Not dirty, cheap ones.

Yup. I’m still mad as hell about Andre Cisco making no play for the ball and trying to hit stick all our WRs. I think they knocked Mvs and juju in that one game, and that scumbag tried to do the same to kelce but he slickly just dodged the contact for a td pass.
