Nzoner's Game Room>Doubt they change it, but I'll bet the NFL re-thinks allowing tush push
RealSNR 10:36 PM 01-27-2025
All this consternation and bullshit from blowhards everywhere about the 4th and inches play has me thinking about the future of this play. And man, if we're already getting Schefter and Florio talking about changing the rules to help teams beat the Chiefs, we may as well make it fair across the board, right?

The tush push hides the ballcarrier and makes it tough to view and make a decision on ball placement when it's close. I do believe the NFL wants to get the calls right, but when they make the decision in the game and rule it too close to call so they can't overturn it, people scream bloody murder. I think by creating a damn rugby pile when every inch really matters, you're just going to continue inviting this crap to fester in discussions of very important games. Shit, we're up against the emperors of this stupid play. What if one of them is close like this again? The Eagles REALLY hide Hurts on these plays, and he goes pretty low. They're going to convert the play a whole bunch, but a few of them might be close. What then will happen?

And in addition to it just being a stupid fucking play with no chance of unpredictability, I just hate it. And for people who say, "Just learn to stop the play and offenses won't run it" you're allowing offensive players to push each other, but you're saying defenders can't meet force with force. Nobody can stop that shit if you're giving an unfair advantage to one side of the ball.

I hate that they don't blow the whistle quick enough, which allows the OL guys to push a dude forward even after he runs into a brick wall. Meanwhile the refs go out of their way to give offensive players forward progress if anyone pushes them backwards.

We were stopping it all night and the Bills kept fucking the chicken and the response from fans is that the refs were not being fair lol I really hate that dumbass play and I hope it gets banned after we do the same thing to the Philly shitbirds

The tush push will go on until hurts or Allen get theismsned in a pile.

The NFL should be embarrassed they had to threaten to give the eagles a touchdown because the commanders kept trying to get advantage during that dumbass play

But, yeah, posted in a different thread that it's going to have to be abolished. All of yesterday was a perfect example. The eagles Redskins goal line fiasco and then our game. Too much bullshit prolonging the game, and a lot of the time there's an argument with the spot, even in today's camera rich environment.

Kill it.

The Bills ran it last night but Philly perfected it. Stopped the Bills a couple times; not stopping Philly.

Would love to see Andy and Mahomes pull out a tush push in the Super Bowl.

Pushing the player forwards seems like it's against the intent of the game. The players are supposed to be individuals, not a scrum and to allow other players to push the pile forwards after forward progress has stopped seems contradictory to the game itself. Someone will get injured and probably severely having 1/2 ton of other players land on them.

We'll see about that. Buffalo was 28 for 30 on the season before last night. Romo said even the 2 "failed" plays still led to first downs on the next play. So Buffalo was pretty much a 100% conversion rate in these situations until yesterday.

I'm not so sure we can't stop it. I mean I think with Spags we can have a strategy against it. I think we can do it. Most importantly let's keep them off 3rd and 1 fourth and 1 or goal to go.

Pushing the runner wasn’t even allowed before 2005. They changed a good rule in 2005 and 15 years later we see the logical conclusion of that mindless change.
