Huh? We don’t play the Texans week 17. If he comes back week 17, he gets a game with everyone and a part of a game (hopefully we can rest some week 18) plus multiple full practice week. If he comes back vs the Texans, he gets 2 full games. What’s not to like ?

Week 17 works. That gives him 2 weeks of regular season games, then a bye if we keep homefield. Plus, if they expect to bring him back week 17, then he should open his practice window week 14, so he will be getting some reps before week 17.
