To our best knowledge (basically, Bwana), Skip Towne passed away on March 24, 2023. I didn't exactly have the most positive run-ins with him, but everyone who was anyone on here in the beginning deserves a thread in the In Memoriam forum.
I say we share our best (or worst) encounters with Skip, and then, only once this thread reached 100 posts, move it. :-) [Reply]
I got along just fine with Skip (Maybe it's the fact that I'm an old geezer myself). It's sad to hear of his passing and (for me) the fact that he wasn't here giving people hell at the end. Rest in peace Skip. :-):-):-) [Reply]
It's gonna be weird 100 years from now, when none of the current CP members are alive and it's just a bunch of future noobs going on and on about Pat Mahomes V winning a 60th Super Bowl for the Chiefs. [Reply]
Hammers home just how long this community has been around.
Good lord. It's worth a documentary in and of itself.
RIP Skip. You're with that other cranky kU bastard Don Fambrough now. Hope you two are shaking your fists and screaming at the clouds together. [Reply]
He definitely knew how to keep people in check, especially n00bs. He had his soft spots, but he definitely knew how to remind people that they were no one special (unless their threads reached at least 100 posts). [Reply]
Skip, the n00b whisperer. :-)
I always got along fine with him, probably because I started before he did. He was kind enough to guide me through some Direct TV issues at one point, which I was grateful for. On a side note, I'm debating on posting his obit. Trying to figure out which direction to go there.
RIP
