Nzoner's Game Room>Will Kelce play long enough to break all TE records
Balto 11:26 AM 09-03-2024
Going with the "Will Reid end up coaching long enough to become all time wins HC" thread.

Will Kelce play long enough to break all the TE records?

REC Yards: 15,127 Tony G, Travis at 11,328
REC: 1,325 Tony G, Travis at 907
TDs: 116 Gates, Travis at 74

REC YDS/G: 71.2 Travis

Thoughts?

Nah. I'm sure he'll hang it up before then considering the success he's had as far as Super Bowls and pop culture notoriety and stardom. He won't have that chip on the shoulder to prove himself for years and years past his prime.

I don’t think he’ll break any of those. He’d need 4,000 more yards, 400 more receptions and 40 more TDs.

If he does play for another few years, I think he’d have the best odds of surpassing the yardage record, followed by the receptions record, and lastly the TDs record.

Not with that $100M podcast money, no.

Probably . . . not. Travis is 34, and will be 35 in about a month? I think he's likely got two more seasons left in him before he decides to hang them up.

Dont think he cares to be honest.

and like others have said - there's lots of reasons NOT to play football now, more than ever (for Kelce).

Kelce could have 3 more "prime Kelce" years and not break those records. He got started kinda late. His first 1,000 yard season he was 28 at the end of it (October birthday). He'll hold damn near every playoff record, though. For any receiver.

He is already lining up his post-NFL life.
I think he plays out his contract and retires.
so...that's a 'no' on the records.

Not likely, he's got his retirement ducks in a row. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he hung them up if they win it all again this year. He has nothing left to prove at this point.

For those saying he has his retirement ducks in a row, I don't think that matters. I think Kelce will play until he physically can't anymore.

I don't see it happening. I could see him playing a few more years but I think we'll see his reps and usage get managed a lot. As soon as this year. Keep the usage down and keep him fresh for the playoffs. Because either we overuse him and he plays less years, or we manage his body and get more out of him.

It doesn't matter, he's still a GOAT TE no matter what the numbers say

Before swift and his podcast blowing up. I think he would have stayed to break most of them. Now, I think he plays 2 or 3 years. Less if he knocks her up.

And hopefully that is the case. Win 5 straight Superbowls. Retire healthy with a couple kids with Taylor Swift and live the good life.

Nope. He’s setting himself up for retirement already. Can’t see him breaking any of those records, especially at 35.

He would need 3,800 or so yards, just over 400 receptions, and 42 TDs. Those are too far out for him to accomplish.

I do think he will pass Rice in yards and TDs in the playoffs while creating such a gap between him and #2 in playoff receptions that it might never be broken.
