Everyone else is chasing his shadow, therefore overpaying only to get the same, deflating results.
Knowing who Mahomes is, there is no alternate universe that would sign someone like Cousins or any other QB, to what Atlanta did, knowing what Mahomes has accomplished?
Mahomes is underpaid. He's worth twice what he's getting. I'm glad he doesnt feel underpaid, though. And I'm glad he'd rather win than get paid what he's worth. [Reply]
Bc of the cap he will always be underpaid. If he were paid his worth we’d win no more Super Bowls. He’s also a winner with a winners mindset driving his thinking. I wonder what he makes in endorsements relative to what he would make if he’d have maxed out his contract every chance possible (bc that means possibly only one SB). [Reply]

With the money he makes from endorsements, he's doing just fine I'd say. We're very lucky he was able to develop so much fame. It helps us keep him without destroying our cap.
I ran into an old colleague I haven't seen in 20+ years, he's the most hardcore Packer fan you can imagine. He was with his young son who was wearing a Mahomes jersey, says his kid is a huge Chief fan. This is a Green Bay kid growing up within minutes of Lambeau. I've never seen a player on another team, let alone the Chiefs, who had that kind of impact on young fans around here. He's just one of many that I've seen as well. When you're making that kind of impact across the country, you can afford to take less coin. [Reply]
Wait, did Florio complain about this again? I have seen this topic all over the place this morning. Usually happens when Florio writes some garbage piece about how Mahomes taking less money is screwing the rest of the league, and really seems quite upset about it. [Reply]
Guys like MJ, Brady, Mahomes, etc.. will always be underpaid if you just base it off their sport contract. They make up for it w endorsements..
Like Mahomes said, he is set for life and his family is well taken care of. He doesn't need more money. He'd rather the extra money they could give him be spent else where so Chiefs have a better chances of winning. He's ultra competitive and you can tell losing really takes it's toll on him.
Other QBs aren't taking this approach - that's on them. Nothing wrong w that, to each their own. You can't expect everyone to be ultracompetive like Mahomes is. [Reply]
The NFL salary cap has been in place for 30 seasons and before Mahomes win last year the highest paid QB % to the cap to win a ring was Steve Young in 1994 at 13%.
Mahomes won it last year at 17%.
Next year the salary cap is projected to be $242.5 million and Mahomes $57.36 million cap hit would be 23.65% of our cap.
Jesus Patrick. Talk about making it really really really ****ing hard for Veach and Andy to win.
Hope he's happy with this money bc he's probably losing stars on defense over this. Chris Jones for sure. Maybe Sneed too.
Have a feeling he's already regretting this decision with the WR fiasco this year.

Florio has actually done a solid job lately. He points out the raise that Mahomes got last year. Patrick’s cash flow is better than everyone else from 2023 to 2027 and 2024 to 2027. Josh Allen is the guy who needs a raise at the moment. Florio has been pounding the table for Josh to become a squeaky wheel and make some demands in Buffalo. [Reply]
