It wont happen. Madden cannot be killed. If this game takes off, which it won't, all that would happen would be EA would buy them and dismantle them.
I play MLB the Show like a champ, widely considered the least predatory sports game on Earth. It is filled with DDA and all the longtime players of it hate it. The devs are at war with the skill gap. There is another baseball video game in Japan called Yakyuu Pro Spirits. It is better in all ways except the lack of MLB licensing. It never got even a niche foothold in the USA, despite being way better by gameplay.
Everything I hear about Madden is that it is like the Show but 10 times worse. As an NFL fan and Chief fan, I hear such bad things about Madden that I havent considered buying it at all in the last decade. [Reply]

That would be meaningful if the average customer had the patience and desire to seek out mods and customization.
The average gamer just wants to load the game and play. Not spend hours making it optimal. That is why Madden keeps selling. It has the whole NFL experience with just one click.
It is all about the license. People want to play as their heroes with the least amount of effort. [Reply]
