Can you guys recommend an awesome 4K Blu-Ray player? Looking for quality vs. price recommendation TIA :-) Our Sony Blu-Ray player died looking to replace. We have a 65" LG OLED TV to hook it up to. [Reply]
Got a $150 Amazon gift card from work so I went with Panasonic DP-UB820-K. Also bought a 10K 8K 4K HDMI Cable 48Gbps 6.6 FT, Certified Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable 4K 240Hz 144Hz 120Hz 8K60Hz 0.01ms HDR10+ eARC HDCP2.3 [Reply]

Side tangent, but this ^ sarcastic boomer take gets people into bad situations. You could burn your house down with a shit cable that has a ghetto controller...Spend the extra money on decent cables (USB-C).
Do HDMI cables need to be high speed? I know when the standard came out there was a big deal about not needing gold plated cables. I haven’t followed it very much anymore. [Reply]

That is not correct. Standard HDMI will not handle 4K. High Speed rating is needed for 4K. Then if you are a gamer and want 4K @ 120Hz or 8K @ 60Hz, you'll need an Ultra High Speed rated cable, also known as HDMI 2.1. [Reply]
I have the same model Panasonic 4K UHD player that you decided to buy...it's a nice one! Go buy yourself some high quality 4K UHD discs to play now, and enjoy! [Reply]
Any HDMI cable that is rated 18 Gbps max bandwidth is sufficient for 4K. Many of the old standard HDMI cables are rated for this and even exceed it. The audio-videophile cable racket is a money maker but its fools gold. [Reply]

My Panasonic 4K UHD UB820P-K box didn't include an HDMI cable, unfortunately. I just bought a high speed cable that met specs (non gold-plated , of course :-)) [Reply]
