I was wondering how come the electricity in my office was not lower after I made some serious improvements/changes.
I compared 12/21 bill vs 6/22. I about floored me.
kw/h
12/21 $0.0161
6/22 $0.0289
Holy crap that is a jump.
The company is Evergy.
This will probably end up in DC. But there are a number of posts related to money in the lounge.

Most likely are using natural gas to generate electricity. Have a look at the NG price chart of the last year or so.

What state is this?
In PA, PPL (Pennsylvania Power and Light) increased their rate recently from $.08941 to $.12366

In TX, we shop for our provider. I signed a 3 year contract last summer for the cheapest rate I could find: .058

3 year contract? Don't recall anyone offering that when I lived down there. Usually just a year at a time.

You just have to wade through the loads of providers and the plethora of offerings from each one. There are a few websites that consolidate search results for you so you can get a general idea of what's reasonable, then you can take a deep dive into the electricity facts sheet. I gobbled up that 3 year deal with the expectation of inflation and skyrocketing energy costs. I was right. I'm scared to think how high the next contract will be.

This is my local city run utility rates (Midwest mo)
Set in tiers and the tiers for commercial properties are quite different than residential.

You're paying $0.0289 per kWh? Holy crap. Does Evergy include demand charges? If so, that might explain the jump.

I think if women would change over to battery operated Dildos the demand for electricity would crash.
