Nzoner's Game Room>Herbal Tea: Thoughts
Holladay 03:39 PM Yesterday
This is going to be a weird topic

I believe that herbal stuff can help. To what degree, not sure. I made a mix of stuff for a tea awhile back. But didn't use it much. I thought I would do it again and make it a habit.

I looked through a number of herbal texts and took note of "stuff" that is good for you. I looked at heart, digestive, brain, liver et. al. ingredients and came up with this list:

licorice root/powder
caraway seed
anise seed
celery seed
fennel seed
dill seed
rosemary ground
vanilla powder
ginger ground
cloves ground
turmeric powder
peppermint powder
chicory powder

I mix it all up in a tea tin and use a clamp tea infuser in one cup of hot water.

It tastes a little weird but not bad. I am hoping to try a cup a day for a cheat in better health. Of course diet and exercise play a larger role.

Am I mind f*%ked or does this make sense? I think it can't hurt....

one of the things that I do in the event I feel a cold or something coming on. I make myself a very strange tea, but I think it works because it always seems to help with the cold or whatever it is that's bothering me.

brace yourself, you're probably going to think this is disgusting. But I don't care about how it tastes, I just want to feel better in those situations.

Kombucha green tea + 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper + 1 teaspoon or ground ginger + lemon

and then I suck on a zinc vitamin, the actual vitamin not one of those cough drops with zinc in it. Suck it, let it absorb in my mouth, gargle it and swallow.

Zinc always seems to work. The aftertaste is pretty bad and will last hours, but it 100% helps with any sore throat or something like that.

I got into fermenting herbal tea a couple years ago. This is the tea leaves I use. Has a tiny bit of caffeine with a tad of sweet and the kick of a mule if you let it go for a month.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's easy and cheap, and a cool little side hobby and tastes unique and awesome.

Just call me 'tangent'.

My wife is a full believer in this crap. Me not so much. But I won't lie, sipping on a warm cup of tea from time to time is awfully nice.

Vitamin C, D and zinc are basically a magic trick... been taking them daily with breakfast for at least 5 years now and haven't had anything worse than some minor sniffles in all that time

ya, those 3 combined do help with things. I wouldn't recommend having too much zinc though, daily might be too much.

cayanne pepper, mustard - the hot kind, ipecac, asafetida, croton oil, and the final ingredient, GUNPOWDER.

Works like hell. Your welcome.

Its only 50mg of it, but I do take a few breaks per week from it on the advice of my doctor... my blood is often too high in iron, and he said zinc can exacerbate that

ya it can cause that sort of imbalance with other metals I believe.

and with D, I would prefer to get natural sunlight over vitamins for the D. But if you are taking vitamins, it needs to be taken with calcium to have any effect I believe.

Is that black powder or modern smokeless powder? The reason I ask is that the later contains nitroglycerin. Black powder was made with sulfur charcoal and saltpeter (potassium nitrate). The Chinese considered all those ingredients as medicinal.

I’m a huge John Wayne fan and that movie fits somewhere in my top 10 of his films.

Yeah, one of my favs as well. Been watching the Duke so long I've seen every John Wayne movie maybe a dozen times, so my 'favorite' tends to rotate every few years. For a while my favorite was "the Quiet Man." After that, it was "In Harm's Way." And so on.:-)

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance holds the #1 spot permanently for me. Everything behind that can shuffle around a little bit, especially given that I’ve never actually taken the time to list them out.
