Nzoner's Game Room>Mahomes bringing a WNBA team to KC?
FloridaMan88 02:59 PM Yesterday

As WNBA expansion continues, ownership of the NWSL's KC Current — which includes Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany — has met with the WNBA and is in contention to bring the league's next franchise to Kansas City. Mahomes also co-owns the KC Royals and Sporting KC. pic.twitter.com/9kd2VXzWR3

Mahomes also owns three NFL franchises - Broncos, Chargers, and Raiders.

Opposite actually, the players are opting out of the CBA because they want a higher percentage of profits.

I've never watched a second of women's basketball and seriously doubt I ever will but given the success of the KC Current it seems KC would be a good market for it.

WNBA should be thanking their lucky stars that the NBA is so popular. If the WNBA could take advantage of Caitlin Clark and get a good TV deal, then they wouldn't be bankrupt anymore. At this point though I don't see the WNBA taking advantage of her cuz it's ran by a bunch of idiots.

Interesting. I guess they must be doing well. I’ve tried to watch their product from time to time and just could not last more than 10 minutes.

Yeah, they have a golden goose in Caitlin clark. And as soon as the league realizes this and tosses the old guard to the woodshed, the league has a lot of potential. It’s the most embarrassing fumble in recent sports history. She is pulling crowds that legit compete with nba turnouts.

With NIL there is a new guard of women’s college basketball players who are actually legitimately fun to watch and know how to market themselves. The question is when the old guard of players and especially media will stop shooting themselves in the foot with a shotgun

Bankrupt was the wrong word. They aren't making any money though and there is no profit in the WNBA.

They just lost $50 mil this year lol.

They were $50 mil in the red. How can they expect more of the profit when there is absolutely no profit?

Then why is the kc current successful despite pretty much no media deals? Expectation should never be that it’ll be anywhere close to nba money. But lots of leagues can be plenty profitable pulling smaller but substantial crowds. MLS did it for decades and same seems to be the case with NWSL.
