This completely depends on the vehicle too though. The Speed3's came ridiculously tame from the factory. A basic tune can unlock 10-15 hp and keep the gas mileage reasonably the same.

Don't tune your car for another year or two. Wait until a few companies have gotten really good at it and then pick one of them. Let other people be the guinea pigs. If you end up doing an email tune, make sure they get you setup to data log etc. Also, generally speaking, if you're going to tune, you probably want to upgrade the air intake as well, which can also void your warranty if you don't reinstall the original one before going to the dealer.
Thanks man. I'm going to wait to do the tune. Getting better response today. Changed gas stations. Same 93 grade. Maybe its all in my head anyway.

Great advice. I can keep it straight and its an automatic but you never know about the other guy and shit happens. I don't know how I could live with myself if I hurt someone.

My enjoyment of the car has sky rocketed since Saturday and the muffler delete. Now, I feel like I'm actually driving a muscle car.:-)

If it were mine, and its not, I wouldn't do any performance mods until hundreds of others had worked out ALL of the kinks.

This.
I NEVER street race. I've had sand kicked in my face by all sorts of trash and always refrain, even though I know I'd win about 90% of the time. It's just NOT worth the risk. I totally trust my skills, it's the other guy I don't trust. Whenever you street race, there are times during any race where you're at the mercy of the least skilled driver and ANYTHING can happen. I usually just hand the guy my card and tell him to meet me at the track on Friday night. They rarely show, but are sorry if / when they do. I've paid for several sets of wheels & tires with my winnings. :-)

All this talk about tunes, voiding warranty, exhaust sound etc. makes me laugh and takes me back about 6 years ago to when I first bought my car. My car was never a daily driver so I got the mod bug right away. Lucky for me there were TONS of "safe" options available. In fact, Ford has a deal where if you get them to install one of the street legal Ford Racing Kits, you keep your warranty. So, I immediately went with the Ford Racing / Whipple SC 750HP Kit that they put on the Super Snakes, thus I never knew what 500hp was like as I was at 750hp when I drove off the dealership lot. I hit the gas getting on the freeway and H-O-L-Y SHIT I was FLYING! Once you're at that power level, you know exactly why you don't street race...That was a long time ago and I've done more mods to the car, and I've still never totally gotten down on the car, on the street racing another car, though I am known to do some "spirited driving" from time to time. :-)

Great time to own a modern muscle car! Have fun and stay SAFE! :-)

So looks like a Bama Performance tune has good reviews and is pretty simple. Lifetime option available. Anyone have experience with them?

I work with a lot of different tuners. Finding one that won't blow your $hit up is important. Call 5 Star Tuning or Brenspeed and tell them that Tad at Freedom Racing sent you.

Anyone ever change the intake manifold gasket on an LT1 engine? The youtube videos don't make it look too bad. Lots of pieces and parts to unhook. How long for an unexperienced mechanic (me) to make the change?

I'm not really interested in taking my car to the track. I think my mod days are over. I want to keep it stock. I just didn't hear the same sound that I remember from my buddies 71 Scat Pack so I did the muffler delete. Very happy with that decision.

I don't care about the warranty that much right now. If I want to do something I'm going to do it. I'm still a stinking noob. The tune will have to wait till there are more done. I only know of 3 Scat Pack 6.4L Shakers in my area of 2-3 million. Gearheads are estimating there are only going to be 300-350 of the A8's made. So I don't think there will ever be a local shop with any experience tuning my car.

This is the beginning of another great muscle car era.

No. They both know what they're doing and can tune remotely.

Not really looking for more HP or torque. If that happens great. Main goal is to have a finely tuned machine under foot. When I press the gas, it takes off.

What should I pay? How do I decide who to do the tuning? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If you're not looking for hp I don't see the point.

I'm sitting in traffic. Getting ready to get up on the highway. A car pulls alongside me and reves its engine. 2013 5.0 Shelby GT. Lots of mods done. He motions for me to roll down my window. He says..........I got $500.00 that says I can beat you. I decline and he whines, come on man I've been wanting to find one of you Shakers out here and show you guys who is still the top dog out here. I didn't respond and the light changed.

Next time that happens just tell him to meet you at the track and you can settle up.

I finally got all the side windows in the car about 2 months ago. Windows are smoked not tinted. Unfortunately I had a self induced wiring mishap with my ISIS (Now Infinity Box) system and the car sat for 6 weeks waiting on a repair part. Luckily it wasn't expensive.

Finally back on the road and going to interior soon. I realized Ishould do the sound system before interior. Its getting a hidden bluetooth system, nothing crazy 4 speakers and a small sub.

Finally decided on the wheels, fronts will be 8x8 and rears 18x9.

Little sound clip running down the road. This is probably 3/4 throttle and easy shifting, just winding it out a little.
