Italian herbs and cheese bread, pepperjack cheese, toasted. Lettuce, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, pickles and cucumbers. Chipotle and lite mayo. No chips needed with that sandwich. Dessert is gorilla glue. [Reply]

The original Yellow Sub in Lawrence is one of the nation's great sub shops.
The expansion locations occasionally have quality control problems, where they might over toast your bread, or just slap the condiments on, but the ingredients are still top notch.
The meats in both the Super Hero and the Beefeater [the two I usually chose between] are really great. Bacon and cream cheese is an inspired choice on the Beefeater. Pepperoncini and black olive is delicious on the Super Hero.
Haven't had Jersey Mikes, but between Quiznos, Goodcents, Firehouse, and McAlisters, only McAlisters comes close. It's an insult to put Subway in the same strata.
Jimmy John's is a different animal. They have comparable quality ingredients, but all their subs are cold cults, untoasted. And none of their combos are innovative, just basic beef/turkey, white/wheat, cheddar/swiss. [Reply]
I had a Cowbell Brisket sammie, 2 layers of tender brisket with crunchy yet tender bark. everywhere you bit it was both melt in your mouth meat and crispy, not burnt bark. On top and bottom of the brisket was provolone cheese and pickled red onions with habanaro peach baked beans on the side.
