Assume that the state becomes a very large lake, bay, inlet, or other body of water - fresh water if it's inland, salt water if it's coastal.
I'd have to go with Nevada. If the state was too far north, it would create a lot of snow and ice and stuff, which might not be good. Nevada would create a lot of humidity and extra farmland in Arizona, Utah, and eastern California, which would greatly increase American productivity and prosperity. [Reply]
It has to be Nevada. There's nothing there in most of the state. A massive freshwater lake would generate more for the country than the land and people do. Vegas can relocate. [Reply]

Except Nevada has one of if not the biggest tourist destination in America. [Reply]
1) Kansas sucks
2) They are trying to lure the Chiefs and Royals out of MO
3) We would be near a beach
4) Fuck Kansas
5) Flooding Kansas would take a geographically beige area of the country and make it beautiful
6) A single molecule of water is more valuable than absolutely everything that resides in it's borders with the exception of a handful of people.
7) Fuck Kansas [Reply]

Hey, it's one of those irrational Kansas haters that I can't understand. Everything to the right of an arbitrary man made line is awesome and everything to the left is complete shit. :-) [Reply]
After 20 years of thought, I'm sticking with Nevada as my choice. The positive impacts on Arizona and Utah would be profound, and you can always reposition the casinos and brothels into Utah, which frankly would be good for that state too.
Nebraska would be a good second choice, though. [Reply]
