Spoiler!

The Latest:

Marquise Brown & Rashee Rice are back in the Chiefs’ training facility.

Andy Reid said Hollywood Brown is “ahead of schedule” and attacking his rehab, but he wouldn’t commit to a certainty of seeing him this season. Called him “a relentless worker.”

DeAndre Hopkins has 11 regular season games to get up to get fully comfortable within the #chiefs offense and with Patrick Mahomes. By the time the postseason arrives, I'm told there is a real chance Hollywood Brown could return. Which would make KC's it's most complete at the…

Seems like it at least it happened at a time he wont miss a significant number of games.
We really questioning Reid's approach to preseason here?

Apparently, after 24+ years as a HC, the 3x SB-winning coach Andy Reid doesn't really know what he's doing. Who knew?:-)

Likewise, but you know what would make me more comfortable? Not playing the best player in the league in meaningless preseason games.

Aaron Rodgers never plays preseason games.

Did that stop him from getting injured immediately? Also he has abysmal games to start the season because of it.

I trust Reid, not fan voodoo

Hill might be the toughest SOB in football and was out 4 weeks. Hollywood isn’t anywhere near the physical specimen Ty is, so I’d think we’re looking at more for him. Then again, he is playing for a big payday, so hopefully he’ll push it a little harder than he normally might.

So lame, still can’t believe it happened. First freaking play, just unreal.

And the coaching staff feels differently than you do because they recognize that it’s football. Injuries can happen to these guys even in a simple shorts practice.

With a little bit of smarts, you can get your starters a handful of preseason snaps that better prepare them for the upcoming season than practice alone and for not much more risk.

Yep. The football gods are having something to say about a 3-Peat. But they ****ed up cuz it happened early, giving Reid & Co. time to adjust.

Yeah, and it's just the first week of preseason. The injury isn't supposed to take more than 6 weeks to heal. So, Brown will only miss a game or two of the season, at most.

It was the football equivalent of getting hit by lightning. I'd rather we get these kinds of things out of the way as early in the a season as possible to give Andy plenty of time to adjust to them until the player(s) come back.

It's a nothingburger.

The fact that it’s football (a sport where playing full speed will inevitably result in injuries every single time) is why I have the opinion on this I do.

And the logic behind my opinion is really no different than the logic Reid uses to bench his starters in meaningless week 17 games, so the fact that it has struck such a chord here is an odd thing indeed.

Week 17. When the team has already had a full season of gelling together as a unit. Particularly the offensive line if they have new young guys in as projected starters.

You really don’t see a difference between the two? They’re all just meaningless games?

You're right but Reid will never do it so you have to accept it.

Lol, just how many times has an Andy Reid team suffered a catastrophic injury in preseason over the course of his entire career? I'll be the actual number is tiny. Much ado about nothing, imo.

Andy has no control over if players get injured or not. Deciding whether it is ok for your marquee players to play in preseason games simply based on how lucky or unlucky your team has gotten in the past with injuries is just.....dumb.

I side more with this.

Preseason games are when the team should be ramping up and getting used to real Football again. Obviously not a full games worth, but a little bit is fine.

Week 17 is when the player's bodies are falling apart and they're crawling to the finish line. They don't need to be ramping up. They need rest, desperately.
