Man!!!! I love Andy Reid. The @Chiefs and Andy Reid are offensive line savants. Kingsley Suamataia has big time potential. I think he he can be awesome guard or tackle. Just needs a little technique work. He is an aggressive killer who is great athlete.
Kingsley Suamataia is a versatile offensive tackle who split his 1,300 career snaps at BYU almost exactly down the middle between left and right tackle.

He does look good IMOP. Hell, even Wanya probably would've filled in better at LG. At least he's big and strong enough to avoid getting thrown back into Mahomes's lap multiple times. [Reply]

Not high at all, I thought he looked great. But...I think the question is whether he is a center only. Of all the options to replace Trey Smith, he's the one I'm most optimistic about. [Reply]

But he was showing traits that will absolutely translate (and translate well) to OT.
And 'comfort' is just a matter of reps and experience.
I really don't want to give up on the kid at OT. At the very least he should be a good replacement for Taylor if we need to free up the money next season.
Morris is a guy who can look good at RG while showing the same issues that might create headaches for him at OT. But Kingsley, because of his traits, is just as likely to be a viable OT as OG over the long-term because it isn't a traits problem.
It's an experience problem.
So get him some experience. I absolutely believe this kid can be our version of Alaric Jackson if we aren't so hell-bent on giving up on that. [Reply]

Really hope the Chiefs are not giving up on developing this guy as a Left Tackle. How many reps did he even get in 2024? It seems like the Chiefs just put him out there against Maxx Crosby and said "good luck" and when that (unsurprisingly) went poorly they just gave up.

Sure, don’t give up on him. But if they go into 2025 counting on him wit no viable plan B they deserve every bit of criticism they’ll get if it blows up in their face yet again.
I’m confident there will be multiple solid tackles taken in the draft beyond just Campbell and Banks, it’s a matter of finding them. Whether they take someone in rd 1 or later in rds 2-3 it’s still a worthwhile investment even on top of Suamataia, even if KS develops they likely need additional competition and/or depth at both LT/RT.
I agree he didn’t really get a fair chance last year as a raw 21-year old rookie, but then why in the world did this coaching staff ever think it was okay to throw such a player into the starting mix at LT right out of the gate with no viable alternatives? I never stated anything about being able to start right away, there will be multiple solid OTs taken later in the draft just like there are every year, even if they don’t develop right away. Suamataia could still be that player, you just can’t count on it with no alternative like they did in 2024. Even with KS and Morris (and Niang) they’ve still invested relatively little in the draft at OT. I don’t see why we saw KC take Hardman and Moore in the 2nd and didn’t say they’re done with taking projects at WR but say the same thing at OT when it’s arguably a more important position. We followed up those day 2 picks at WR with another day 2 pick and finally a day 1 pick this past draft, why would we not want to invest just as much at a position that has the capability of making or breaking the offense? With his size and length if he can get coordinated enough at RT he can be coordinated enough at LT. Most guys end up as right tackles do to some limitations. Physically Kingsley should have none. So there's no point in taking him out of left tackle consideration to make him a right tackle. He's played both in college IIRC so it shouldn't be a coordination and reps issue on one side vs the other. [Reply]

Definitely a better fit at G than T, or at least looks more comfortable.
Good OL are big, strong, quick and smart. I think he's big and strong, but I think he's not smart at all. I think this also impacts his speed, because he's thinking instead of doing. Can/will experience solve that? Or is he just very dumb?
He's better/faster on simple, straight-forward plays where he knows what to do, is decisive and doesn't have to think (like at :34 and 1:14).
