Nzoner's Game Room>Space Exploration megathread
DaFace 09:40 AM 06-01-2014
Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

So what happens to the second stage of Dragon? Does it re-enter the atmosphere and burn up, or does it float around forever?

I just lost my feed.

Burns up, but it can sometimes takes a while. There are a ton of old rocket boosters floating around out there.

Solar arrays deployed. All looks good for now!

Iridium off of the west coast is up next and then Zuma and (perhaps) Heavy!

over 6000kmh Jeez. I am slightly ignorant to what spacex is trying to accomplish. I shall look into it deeper. But I love what Elon has been able to do with tesla and solar.

SpaceX's mission statement pretty well sums it up:

"SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars."

...and you should see Elon's aggressive goals. People sent to Mars by 2024. It's a beautiful thing!

Wow. Wish SpaceX would up their landing production to match this. These were really cool views.
