Year Two of the Matt Quatraro tenure. Time to take a step up this year. Active in free agency and trades this offseason. A new look pitching rotation and bullpen. Will the young players take the leap up offensively? Bobby Witt extension? New stadium? Will Vinny recover from injury? Salvy taking aim at the Royals record book? Will Cole Ragans turn into the best Royals starting pitcher since Greinke 1.0?

Some do, but take Vanderbilt's Tim Corbin for example. He's so well respected he will provide analysis during MLB Network's First-Year Player Draft coverage.
But a few years ago, Corbin had Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter throw 115 pitches on consecutive days early in the season. I thought that was unnecessary. Both are now going through hard times. Leiter can't find the plate and Rocker can't stay healthy. [Reply]
1) Hacking pitch-coms 2) Using a parabolic microphone focused on catcher or pitcher’s head
Would love to hear other theories because to have the lowest K% (16.6) in baseball at home to 21.3% (8th worst) away from the K can’t just be a coincidence

The delta is probably too large to close at this point to have them starting, but we should see both of them in the game along with Lugo so should have some good representation. [Reply]
5-2 in the last 7 games. Not bad. Taking 3 out of 4 against Cleveland will do. Should had been a sweep if it wasn't for inept replay decision making. [Reply]

Yes, yes and yes.
And that 12-15 record could've easily been the other way around with a little luck here and there. Our record is still underperforming our pythag, which is something to consider. [Reply]
Alright! Showing some life again, and taking 3 of 4 from Cleveland has given us some renewed hope and optimism that will hopefully continue to carry forward with wins!
11 games before the break, with the first 3 at home against Tampa, and finishing with 8 on the road against Colorado, St. Louis and Boston.
I like our pitching matchups against pretty much everyone, but we've clearly been much, much better at home.
How do we finish the first half? Whimper? Bang? Somewhere in between? I'm calling my shot: we will win 8 of the last 11 before the break, getting us back into double digits above .500 and firmly in the conversation for a playoff spot.

How about you Royals fans? Whaddya got?
I'll be honest and say 6-5. That would be a great pace to stay on the rest of the season so it's not negative but I do think the road struggles are real. I will break it down like this:
Take 2 out of 3 from Tampa
Take 2 out of 3 from Colorado (honestly this is the series I worry about maybe the most. Don't want Ragans and CY Lugo being neutralized by that shitty atmosphere)
Split with the Cardinals
Lose 2 out of 3 to Boston.
Hit the AS break what, 9 games over .500? Sets up nicely to make a run. [Reply]
