That's what we are hoping for. Next weekend is the last weekend for deer rifle and an arctic front is moving in. Hopefully, the wind doesn't kill the weekend [Reply]

Well, dicks sporting goods has 25% off one item, free shipping and another code adds 15% more off.
I should probably get binoculars 1st and worry about a scope later. I won't be using the gun for a while. I could get binoculars in the $200 range before the discount. Any suggestions? They have plenty in my range [Reply]

Not on binoculars. Anything not made in China is where I would start.
If you go China for your scope? might as well go Wallmart High Point. You can break it & they will always replace it no question asked.
Most hunting is done in low light. So I would go no smaller than 44 mill. Its about as small as you can go & still gather enough light.
I have 3 Simmons Aetec 2.8X10-44 all made in the Philippians. I hunt coyotes at night 4 or 5 times a winter. Fresh snow & a full moon /these scopes excel.
$80.00-$120.00 on ebay. [Reply]

Defiantly shop around & do research/ Good new glass aint cheap. I cant afford new glass.
So I went to ebay & bought 2 1990s era Philippine made Atech scopes.
Simmons has since moved to China. :-) [Reply]
Winchester makes some nice Binoculars. I use them often. Check it out online.
Also,
Scopes are iffy. I have a Bauch and Lomb 6x25 with a low lite filter, range finder and 4.5 inch obj. lense. It ran me around 425 but I've never had a problem.
For what you're looking for, I'd say go with a Simmons or a tru-glow. They're both great. My Simmons is on my 7mm mauser and the true glow is on my BAR 300 win mag. They work great and are extremely clear.
Do not go redfield unless it's old redfield. The new redfield is shit. (China I think) Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]
Some guys from Maine dressed their truck up with a guy spread eagle on the roof of the truck. The driver and passengers put on Moose Heads.
Down the Maine Toll interstate they went causing about 16 accidents.
They went to jail. Maine cops have no sense of humor.

Opening shotgun season tomorrow.
Weatherman calling for rain, cold, wind changing to snow.
Sounds miserable but miserable weather keeps the big ones sitting tight and easier to find. [Reply]

Question...
I've never shot-gun hunted. Do you use slugs or 00 buck shot?
Also, with "primitive" weapons (muzzle-loaders) advancing to the point that you can shoot them 300 yards, wouldn't you lean towards using one instead of a shotgun? I believe IA allows that. Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]
