Braun had a .137 WS/48 and 6.3 BPM last year. He is .284 WS/48 and 13.7 BPM this year (which leads the B12 and is 8th in the NCAA). 72% on 2s compared to 45% last year. His distance shooting has stayed mostly the same, but he seemingly somehow became a completely different player over the summer with an ability to cut/drive/finish at the rim as good as anybody in the NCAA.
This was a month ago prior to conference play. Not counting today’s bad game, in conference play itself, he’s had a .118 WS/48 and only 46% on 2s (right on his mark from last year, making the 72% looking like an aberration and/or a result of weaker competition). It has really been a colossal drop off. Luckily for KU, Jalen Wilson turned back into himself and McCormack is contributing again. They’re still going to need more from him than this though. [Reply]

I was sitting behind the bench and Remy looks timid. It's like he's afraid to screw up. Everytime he makes a bone headed play he looks right over to see how self is going to react. [Reply]

I am fine with whatever bill does. It is such a difference in speed and ability for the eyes on Remi. IS REMI JUST A JAG????? [Reply]

I guess where I was going with that is heading into the game I was down on Remy. Tonight I got the impression that his struggles are in his head, and if he can get his head right we might be better with him on the court. [Reply]
Remy is simply not a Bill Self type of player. Bill runs a very structured offense. Remy does not fit very well in that type of offense. It's really that simple. He can still be valuable to us but it's got to be difficult for Remy when he's used to being the focal point and scoring 20 ppg for two years at ASU. [Reply]

I think we can all agree a regression was coming. Braun has developed into a pretty well rounded player though. His 2PT scoring has fallen off a bit but you can still see the strides. My biggest disappointment with him is he simply cannot shoot 3's very well. He has kind of a slow release, so I think that is part of it, to get comfortable enough to shoot them but he's missed alot of really open looks. He almost leads the team in assists while playing on the WING. [Reply]

That's how I see Remy, timid, afraid to screw up! [Reply]
