Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Ok, you guys have piqued my interest. I couldn't find any of the choc-0-beer though in my area. I ended up mixing a miller lite with some of this stuff. Very "meh"

time to talk superbowl beer....

i'm fortunate to have a couple of growler stores in range, my options:

Sierra Nevada Northern Hemisphere Hop Harvest
Rodenbach Grand Cru Flanders Red
Schlenkerla Fastenbier (descriptors: wood, meat, bacon!) Rauchbier
French Broad Gateway Kolsch
He’Brew Hop Manna
Victory Hop Wallop
Southern Tier 2XIPA

my tastes lean towards the DIPAs, and with this warm winter the stouts just don't sound all that appealing so none on the list(60 degrees today)...I'll likely pass on the flanders red and rauchbier as the crowd I'm with is not all that beer curious

any thing there you love or hate?

Of those, the Kolsch would play best to a large crowd of non-beer nerds (though I haven't had that particular Kolsch before). Of the hoppy beers there, teh Southern Tier 2xIPA (if fresh) would be the best choice, IMO.

ha...you pretty much pulled the thoughts out of my head

the southern tier is one of my favorites, and in the end I care more about my pleasure than theirs...

i haven't tried the Victory, Sierra Nevada, He'Brew, or Kolsch (though it is reviewed as a solid first timer type beer)

Sidenote: while I do really enjoy a good rauchbier, I cannot even imagine drinking an entire growler of that style.

My cousin landed a job @ Boulevard right before Christmas and brought some non-named special brews to the party. The Holiday one was not very good, but the other IPA was fantastic. But yeah, it was still unnamed.

Can't wait for more!

and Tank7 is godly good. I get it everywhere I can find it.

I hope it's triple hop brewed and served in a super cold activated wide mouth vortex bottle that I can write on.

I have had each of these. Like each, none jumps out at me though. I would think the Red would play better with a non beer crowd than an IPA though.

I don't want to read the entire thread but has Old Chub been mentioned? I had some last week and was amazed. There is also an excellent Oatmeal Porter here in NC brewed by Highland breweries that's fucking awesome!
