I get that Sutton is a good WR. I'm talking about why and how they went after McDuffie. Rookie QB Bo Nix didn't spontaneously decide to go after McDuffie, the 2nd best CB in the league. Maybe. But what I saw several times was that Nix hit Sutton on time/in rhythm. Which means that Sutton had to be the first or second read. Which means that Payton saw something in film study about McDuffie that he thought he could take advantage of, repeatedly. With Bo "over 50% of my passes are within 5 yds of the LoS" Nix pulling the trigger.

Now, if that's true, then every other team on the slate is going to try and exploit that same issue, because now it's on tape.

So, let's go forward now. Is there a team on the slate, or a team we're likely to run into in the playoffs, or in the SB, that has better QB/skill players than DEN, and a really good (top-10ish) defense? And what if they 'discover' the same issue with McDuffie that Sean and Coen seem to have found?


But as I said, whether we won or lost Sunday, or whether we win or lose this coming weekend isn't really what I've been concerned with. It's the fact that two teams have gone at McDuffie and had decent success. Now, maybe it's nothing. Or, maybe there's something to be concerned about.
