Nzoner's Game Room>Do We Really Want To Go Undefeated?
Easy 6 03:27 PM Yesterday
Can't wait to get crushed for this opinion, but it just feels like asking for an undefeated season while chasing a threepeat is bad juju... its asking for too much IMO

I'd much rather we lose a game or two just to keep everyone frosty, to remind them that yes they can be beaten if they're not playing their best ball... look no further than the Patriots undefeated season to see what can happen when a team sniffs too many of its own farts

I don't want to meet Detroit in the Super Bowl with our heads in the clouds

Maybe I'm just being superstitious, maybe not... what say you?

Right now, I just want to beat the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football and enjoy the ride.

I'm pretty sure the Chiefs are focused on game at hand and that learned their lesson last year overlooking the Raiders on Christmas.

We can go undefeated AND threepeat but got to beat the Buccaneers this Monday to do it. Then worry about the next game.

Count me in the crowd of not worrying about a game I have no control over.

Exactly. Look, if the Chiefs somehow manage to go undefeated, I won't think it sucks. But there are more important things to worry about. Primarily, keeping our guys healthy, which has already been a major problem all year long. And let's not forget that we got an early bye, so there are no more breaks.

I think we get tripped up in Buffalo. That's those cock suckers Super Bowl. Regular season ender in Denver probably as well.

Just get the three peat is all I'm concerned about.

Sure. Why not go undefeated and win the Superbowl.

However, from a practical stand point, the only scenario where the question would matter is the January 5 game against the Broncos if the Chiefs have first seed locked up. I do not forsee having the first seed completely locked up prior to the game on Christmas day.

3rd Consecutive SB > Undefeated season.

The Bronco's game would be 11 weeks straight of playing. At that point, everyone will need some rest. Entering the playoff run with everyone healthy will be more important to curb stomping the Broncos again, the backups will get some reps before the playoffs. As a poster mentioned earlier, the Chiefs backups may be able to beat the Donx.

It's too early to really have it as a goal. But going 16-0 and resting healthy starters so they can have no in game reps for almost a month would be some cowardly bullshit. 09 Colts are not the team to emulate. There is absolutely no reason to think dropping a game helps their playoff chances.

Pretty sure it would be 17-0:-) Still 10 regular season games to play, but you make good points.

I've never thought that the Chiefs would go 17-0 and that's for many reasons. Here are three quick reasons and with the primary reason at #1

3. Chiefs drop stupid games every year against grossly inferior opponents. It's inexplicable, but it must expected.

2. Good teams beat us too, just not in the Playoffs.

AND THE NUMBER ONE REASON THE CHIEFS WON'T GO 17-0

1. Does anyone actually believe that Andy won't begin sitting starters at 14-0? 15-0?

The regular season is an extended preseason. Still tweaking the roster and not showing all the playbook. Regular season games otherwise are important in that one must win enough to make the playoffs. The one seed is nice, but not mandatory. The playoffs are far more important, but let's not show too much of the playbook yet. Just enough to get to the Super Bowl. AND The Super Bowl is the raison d'etre. This is what Andy believes. A 17-0 season is more likely to come as a complete shock to Andy than to the rest of the league. I don't believe Andy puts a whole lot of thought into 17-0.

Can't say I disagree with him. 17-0 is a sweet pipe dream though, isn't it?

I just don't want the one game I go to this year to be the first one we lose. I'm going to Cleveland. When I was younger, I was at the Cincinnati game with my dad the year we went into there being something like 9-0. And they destroyed us. I can't remember the kids name on their team, but he was a rookie out of FSU, and he had a career day. Fans were so shitty to us as we left. Like they just won the SB

Of course. You play to win the game.

But in the grand scheme of things 3peat is the most important. Although an undefeated season + 3peat is another step closer to pulling past Belicheat and Brady and the Patsfans seething would be glorious.

Seems like that was Peter Warrick, IIRC. I’m planning going to the Cleveland game this year, although we seem to lose every game I go to. I think the last time I they won a game I went to was Thanksgiving in 2006.
