If you get Greg Newsome for example, he’s $13m next year on your cap but nothing after that, times up where he can move on before some of your other big deals coming up start to show.
And he’s healthy/younger/faster than Lattimore. And probably costs less in a trade. [Reply]

The plan was going brilliantly until Jaylen Watson got hurt.
We didn't need Sneed. Now we do.
That's not a fault or an error by Veach. So maaaaaybe quit your bitching and moaning about Sneed? [Reply]
Might wanna give a call to the Bears on Stevenson. Got benched for that Hail Mary snafu and when informed of it he walked out of practice. Probably at a braking point there [Reply]

Would like to get Lattimore but I'm not sure I'd pay a 3rd or even a 4th straight up. Maybe swap our 3rd for their 4th which is roughly 5th round value. Lattimore has some injury woes and he can be inconsistent as a player. He's amazing when he's on but there are lumps.
Wouldn't mind Denzel Ward from Cleveland either, if he somehow is made available. That said, the concussion history is troubling. [Reply]
From Ian Rapaport himself...doesn't say Chiefs per se but you'd have to think Veach would have at least inquired about Lattimore given our injuries at CB.

What has merit is the Saints cap situation and whether or not they'd be willing to sell Lattimore this year. It makes more sense for them to sell in the offseason.
If they sell now, all of the 31.66m in dead money from 2025 onward hits next year's cap while whatever is left of 2024 hits now (not like that matters), which means they'll take an approximate 15.66m hit on their 2025 cap. If they wait until the offseason and use a June 1 designation, they'll save 600k on their 2025 cap (15.4m in dead money) and the remaining 16.25m will hit their 2026 cap saving about 250k then.
