Nzoner's Game Room>2024 MLB Playoffs Thread (non-Royals)
SHOWTIME 05:38 PM 09-29-2024

Who's winning it this year?

This is a thread for non-Royal playoff games since I assume there will be a separate one for the Royals…

Sometimes it spins back into the zone and goes a long way. Sometimes it spins out of the zone and he just starts walking guys.

He's a guy who, when he harnesses his stuff, is a borderline CY caliber pitcher. And really, since about the ASB, he's been about as good as the NL has to offer. I saw him stub his toe a bit against the Cardinals in August (one of those days where he just didn't know how his movement was working) but when he has his feel, he's a genuine ace.

You knew when they had the bases loaded with a run in and nobody out, only getting 1 more on a Sac Fly would haunt them.

And when that sac fly happened and Jeremy Pena started celebrating like he'd walked off Game 7, it was all but assured.

The baseball gods do not take kindly to that kind of thing.

Side note - good for Detroit. I think they're probably roadkill from here forward (I mean shit fellas, how many bulllpen games can you actually throw? Because you may need FOUR of them...) but it's a heck of a story.

Sure wish they had Flaherty back. He'd be pretty nice for them right about now.

I'm not so sure. They've won like 90 games since the beginning of August

I don't know if you followed them late in the season, but some of their relief arms are long guys that are technically starters, but enter the game in relief.

Brant Hurter, who pitched today in relief, pitched 5 2/3 no-hit innings against Baltimore late in the season. He's a lefty with a funky delivery.

Ty Madden is another long relief arm they use in 5-inning stints.

They've even shown a willingness to use relief ace Beau Brieske in three-inning stints at times.

I think their pitching staff is very 2020 Tampa Bay Rays-esque. A lot of interesting arms. Scott Harris hasn't really gotten the love yet, but I think he's one of the best GMs in baseball.

They are showing the game Monday scheduled at 6:38 Central on TBS, so we are looking at some serious overlap with the Chiefs game.

Padres are fucking relentless. Pummeling the Braves and their best remaining pitcher. I think this one ends tonight as well.

It’s amazing how much more of a shit I give about these other games now that the royals don’t suck

Padres look like Dodgers killers to me
