Many years ago I went through something similar, but not equivalent - to what Clay is going through now when Coach Haley (allegedly as they say in journalism speak) gave me a special salute on Fan Appreciation Day. Many people didn't believe me and said I was making it all up. But I had no reason to lie about it, and like I've always said, I was OK with the exchange. I said what I wanted to say, and he responded with what he wanted to say, and I'm totally OK with all that. What made me mad is when people called me a liar. Ultimately, it could never be proven or disproven because there was no photographic evidence, but as time went by we saw the content of Haley's character, and he was gone within two years.
I think Clay enjoys the spotlight, but that's just Clay, and that's OK. I hope for his sake that the article has some accuracy, and that this isn't 100% BS Fabrication. If you want to be a journalist, you owe it to the subjects in your story to be fair, and to check your facts across multiple sources. Otherwise, it's all just heresay. If you're not credible as a reporter, then you have nothing.
I hope it all turns out OK for all involved. Seems like even today the story has lost quite a bit of steam. Probably the whole thing will be forgotten in a week or two.
I was one of the people that doubted you, and I'd like to apologize. I was wrong. [Reply]

Did you see the fecking o-line in the superbowl? How the FECK could they make him the "scapegoat" when everyone saw what happened? Also your tone suggests EB's role over the last four years has been nothing but a "favour" from Andy? SMH you sound super ignorant and straight up dumb tbh. [Reply]

True
Tgere was a lot of speculation in that article
1. They were extremely detail on that exchange. But yet no one removers when that happened? Really?
2. The outburst in the meeting. 3 people. So the source is Pat Cap Igor EB. Or second third hand avbiunts. Hearsay
3. Denver interview. The source had to be in that room They have a source in that meeting f?
4. The nfl begged the Saints to interview. Do they have sources in the NFM snd the Saints?
5. They got the “Mike files” wrong
6. His contract. How would anyone knows wants i. His contract ?
There are so many things wrong in that article [Reply]

Good lord, Andy Reid is not going to hurt his team because he is pandering with a black coach because he's afraid of optics. And if we're talking about last year's super bowl that's a hell of a reach to scapegoat EB for that. You really think EB interviewing for a coaching job was a bigger distraction than Britt Reid or that there was some magical gameplan that was going to work with our OL?
If anything Andy is loyal to a fault. Maybe it's true EB was a different coach in 2021. As everyone else has said something didn't feel right and feels like there's some truth to the story. But scapegoating everything from the super bowl to the titanic is absurd. He seemed like a solid coach for us until he outlived his purpose. [Reply]

Let me clarify that in more detail.
Clay is a guy who likes to dress up when he comes to games. That will get you on TV. Some people just enjoy doing that. It doesn't make you a bad guy. Same would apply to folks like X-Factor or Arrowman, or Weird Wolf, or even FDE. Guys like X-Factor have been shown to be batshit crazy. Arrowman, Weird Wolf and FDE are all good guys. So liking attention is not in and of itself a bad thing.
Now, if this story was written with malice and is all or mostly fabrication, that is certainly NOT OK.
Was the goal to just bring attention to the writers, to get clicks or social media attention? Was the goal to break actual investigative news about the relationships between coaches and players? Most likely it was some of both. If the story is complete and utter BS, and is proven so, then the authors would be in the crosshairs of a serious defamation lawsuit. So I hope if sued, they are prepared to defend themselves. If it's all simply attention seeking with no regard to fact, they would deserve to be sued and lose. That's all I'll say about that. Still too soon to know which end is up with this story. [Reply]

Oh I believe you. I mean it's Todd Haley we're talking about here. [Reply]
