I agree but the Chiefs got their best player from that draft in rd 3. It had nothing to do with having the first pick in each rd.
Elway has really gotten by with Manning the same way Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell did. He hasn't done well without Manning, and even with him there were massive issues on offense that Manning hid (OL).
Stocking up on high priced FA is not how you win in this league. Elway got extremely lucky with Manning and now the real challenge begins.
Elway needs to draft better bc Oakland, KC and even SD have had great players come from their recent drafts. The gap is closing and Denver was 2-4 in the division last year. [Reply]

He signed Emmanuel Sanders to a contract before his rookie deal with Denver expired?
Really?
This is Elways 7th offseason with Denver...how many total players has he kept past their rookie deals?
Gotta keep money around for the Donald Stephensons and the Russel Okungs of the world, right? How stupid does a GM have to be to sign a guy with proven injury issues (that isn't even that good when healthy) and because of signing him loses a third round pick...and then cuts him the very next offseason?

And he is not a bum, he is AT WORST league average and pretty good on his better days.
As LoneWolf already pointed out, he was better than any guard on your roster last year.
LDT isn't a finished product, he's being paid on potential. Guys like Zeitler and Leary have already made a name for themselves.
Max Garcia is in the same kind of area talent-wise that LDT is, and I wouldn't want Elway to give him top 5 guard money. [Reply]

Since when did Leary become some super stud :-) He wouldn't even start in kc. Hes an overpaid average jobber. Elway is a DISASTER without Manning.. ..and no they don't have the best C in football. The line calls were shit all year. [Reply]
Horsey getting out maneuvered on ALL his targets. He's landed an average backup guard no one wanted and been checkmated on every other target...OUCH [Reply]
