But yeah, big time whiff maybe next we draft tackles based on their performance on the field and not so much that they went to BYU
They didn't draft him because he went to BYU.

They don’t want to put Kingsley o it there again. He’s prettt much getting redshirted from now on which is the right move.

Also said he thinks Kingsley would be a better G, which honestly I guess I could see but more-so with Wanya. Thinks LT is the number one need in the offseason.

Guess I have that flipped bc I think Wanya is a great G candidate and can be an effective starter there day 1 if we lose Thuney or Trey.

My completely untrained opinion that isn’t worth two dicks: the move to G might help mitigate his terrible footwork in space, but he lacks the mean streak to be effective without proper technique on the inside.

His footwork is bad, his hand fighting sucks, he’s not a technician, and he’s not a mauler. The least a lineman can do is be nasty. He doesn’t have any of those qualities and that makes him basically unplayable.

He’s a 2nd round pick so he’ll get his opportunity, but like Skyy Moore, he doesn’t even look like an NFL player at the moment. It’ll require a complete 180 if he wants to be a major contributor on this roster.

I would really love to know more about what the Chiefs think of Driskell at this stage. He's been given a legit redshirt treatment -- the Chiefs don't think of him like the other OTs they've casually tried to develop in the past like Prince Winnebago because he's been taking up one of the 53 roster spots all year. That tells me they like a lot about him but don't want him to play? Are they actually trying to carve out a longterm depth role for him?

I guess I don't really see the point of keeping him around like they've been doing if they're not eventually expecting he'll contribute in some capacity. And I wonder what that could look like.

In any case it just sucks that we're carrying two redshirt tackles like this now. Would be nice if he could be better than awful if Wanya goes down again.

Could he? Sure

Would I count on it whatsoever as it relates to the offseason roster build? Hell nah.

Yep.

He can definitely come back from this. But expecting him to would be foolish.

Agreed.

They drafted him because he’s Mormon

Hopefully we don't get a Skyy Moore 2.0 situation here.

If the guy can't play, or mentally handle it, move on .

Now FWIW, Penei Sewell wasn't good his rookie year either. He won't ever be Penei, but he could improve a bunch.

I'm sorry, but that's completely nonsensical. If you're going to redshirt Suamataia, get a backup OT you actually feel comfortable fielding in the organization now. Why are they putting Smith on stand by and waiting for Morris to get seriously injured before pulling the trigger?

Based on how much it was reported that Veach tried to keep Trey Smith, it is probably not likely we spend at all on any LT should they be available. And the ones available aren’t worth the cost it would seem.

But it seems like Veach is hellbent on keeping this IOL together for a little longer and I really don’t blame him.

A left side of Thuney and Caliendo might actually be our best possible option on paper. I honestly can’t believe I’m saying that because I’ve never been on the Thuney to LT train, but short term it’s really looking better by the day. I really don’t believe our future LT is on this roster, so just put the absolute best 5 you can find out there.

I hate that we’re even having to discuss this, but if Pat gets killed one of these games we’re going to regret not giving it a shot. I find it very hard to believe Thuney wouldn’t be the best LT on our roster at this point.

The problem is that it disrupts 2/5 of the entire line. It would make much more sense to just replace the LT spot with someone like Smith and leave everybody else alone. I really don't understand what they are waiting for. Wanya is gonna get hurt again. It seems like it's just a matter of time.
