This is the play Mahomes was yelling at Steele? I didn’t see it at the time but read about it in the GDT.

Mahomes looks pissed. Usually he does the disappointed dad “you can do better” type shit.

They did that two weeks before Super Bowl LV lol

Ahh, this makes a lot of sense. I was wondering how a guy like him could still be floating around out there with the absolute dogshit OT play we've seen around the league.

So it's pretty much Smith or nobody.

As much shit as we caught.....this is also kinda why some of us wanted to pay and keep OBJ even with his flaws.

My brotha, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? The play is live. Our QB is about to get snapped in half and Sua’s replaying the rep back in his mind after blocking no one and letting two defenders run right past him.

I won’t say he doesn’t care but it looks a hell of a lot like he’s just completely lost. He’s all in his head.

You nailed it. I said it before - I'm 100% positive he cares. He's just completely mind fucked.

Orlando Brown Jr was offered a 6 year $139 million contract. That would have hurt our chances at keeping Thuney or Chris Jones tbh. Would have been in a bad place for money.

And he was the worst LT in the league his last year here in terms of pressure given up.

Can’t imagine Wanya is much worse right now than Orlando was in 2022

He and Wylie gave up most combined pressures of any tackle combo in 2022.

This has been an ongoing issue since 2021.

I just think Mahomes was a lot more dialed in for 2022, with the primary goal of showing he wasn't Tyreek-dependent. These past two years, it's been all about the Super Bowls.

They're human, priorities shift and it impacts focus and performance IMO.

Nah.

OBJ had nasty flaws in his perceived "prime" and has looked worse and worse the last 2 years. Mahomes makes it doable because of his ability to avoid pressure, but thats not a permanent solution, thats a stop-gate. Going for the draft and hoping to hit on someone for cheap was a good strategy, it just hasn't worked out. Same with Toney and Moore last year. It's definitely a gamble, but when you have limited resources, I dont blame Veach for his strategy of hoping his draft picks hit somewhere.

If he would have agreed to take the contract the Bengals paid him from us, Veach would have had the pen in his hand within seconds. He was being borderline psychotic with his demands, that's why we ended up here. Sure, we could have waited for him to test the market and not jumped on Taylor, but Veach was simply not willing to take that risk. It ended up screwing him and us, quite frankly.

The question is, would you rather have Brown at LT and then the revolving door at RT? I probably would, but that whole situation was a mess and certainly the one to blame is Orlando, and his idiot agent.

My father used to yell at people to "do something even if it is wrong."

You can't let indecision allow you to do nothing. Even if you block the wrong guy, at least you're blocking someone. Other players can compensate for your mistakes if you're at least doing something to help. If you're nothing more than a traffic cone on the field, then your play is far worse than if you were just making mistakes.

Thuney maybe, but even with him....that hasn't exactly led to the QB being comfortable.

Pat was comfortable with OBJ and moreso, it's just been a revolving door of shit. Now maybe that's better than having a known shit sandwhich there but either way.....not good

It's also why they wanted to throw so much money at Trent Williams.

Everyone wants a LT.

You basically either trade way up in the first for one, or you trade for and sign one. They rarely ever hit FA. Or you keep throwing shit at the wall with later round picks like we've done and see what sticks.

Eh I think the difference between 2022 and the last 2 years was personnel.

Juju is so underrated. Yeah he’s hurt but he is so good connecting with Mahomes and finding space. We also had the Pacheco and McKinnon combo which was great. We haven’t had a receiving threat at RB like McKinnon the last 2 years.

And of course WR has been a circus the last 2 years. 2023 was just horrible talent outside of Rice and 2024 has been injury plagued. Also let’s be honest here: Kelce is declining. He’s not what he was in 2022. Still good, but declining.

Hollywood hurt—>Worthy has to step up and he’s learning
Pacheco hurt—>Steele gets a lot of snaps and he’s awful
Rice hurt
Juju hurt

It’s been a constant rotation of weapons for Mahomes to try to build a connection with all season.

This might be best in the draft forum, and it depends if he even declares, but Josh Simmons out of Ohio State might be a guy who falls due to his injury. He’s very good.

But even still I bet a team drafts him in the teens.

Moving up from the end of the first round to 22 alone is incredible expensive. That’s why they didn’t move up for Brian Thomas Jr.

Moving into the teens? That would be stupid expensive.
