Nzoner's Game Room>Sneed traded to Titans
RunKC 08:53 PM 03-22-2024

Trade: Chiefs are finalizing a deal to send franchise CB L’Jarius Snead to the Titans, per league sources.

Chiefs are expected to receive a 2025 3rd-round pick, in addition to a 2024 7th-round pick flop, while Snead will sign a new contract. Trade is pending physical for Sneed. pic.twitter.com/GWjyKAgxZq

I’m still holding out hope that this guy will be back in January for the divisional game

BREAKING #Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson insinuates that he is not out for the season like originally speculated!

Getting JWat back would be a major boost for KC.@FourGuysInABar @TalkPrimeTime @BowTieSports_18 @ChiefsInsider pic.twitter.com/qjpjvDN5tr

That's encouraging. Still hesitant to think he can come back and pick up where he left off after a lower body break - I figure it will take a couple weeks to get the rust off and by then it's too late.

But to have that body on the roster alone is a big win for depth purposes.

Easy for most to say...Sneed wasn't a high draft pick.

He needed a bag. Can't fault him for that.

This trade fucking sucked. Even before Watson went down Spags defense was getting absolutely gashed out of the slot and by TEs.

Chiefs defense against Slot targets this season (w/ league rank, per NextGenStats):

80/106, 883 yards, 8 TD-2 INT

.46 EPA/dropback (32nd)
65.1% success rate (32nd)
117 QB rating (32nd)

Should have just given up a bit more for lattimore.

Nazi Johnson looks like Phillip Gaines out there

Or just kept the elite CB we already had.

They chose Chris Jones over Sneed.

Defense wasn’t a problem until Watson got hurt. It sucks but that’s football

That's an idiotic assertion. You could've kept both instead of earmarking money for good/very good players like Danna, Bolton, and Smith.

Now we're stuck with a defense that's fucking atrocious in critical situations.

Buccaneers drove for a TD and forced OT to close quarter 4.

Broncos drove for a game winning FG and special teams bailed them out.

Bills drove for a game sealing TD, twice.

You do realize Trent McDuffie is going to get paid a **** ton of money right?

He’s eligible this Spring and they are 100% paying him $20+ million APY.

They can’t pay 2 corners elite money at the same time. FFS

:-) You absolutely can, especially the way Veach structures contracts. What in the fuck?

McDuffie still has this year, his 5th year option, and a year or two of relatively low cap hits. Absolutely could've worked Sneed in and kept him.

McDuffie is currently slated to have a 12 million dollar cap hit in 2025 with the 5th year option.

So we've got 2024 on the last year of his rookie season, 2025 on the 5th year option, and whatever contract he signs for 2026 and beyond, which will almost assuredly have an incredibly low cap hit to start in at least 2026.

Turn off Madden dude. Mahomes, Kelce, Taylor, Creed, Thuney and Chris are about $186 million combined next year. That’s over 70% of the cap in just those players.

They have $23 million projected in cap space next year and Sneed’s cap hit is $24 million.

Good grief. Nobody would be saying anything if Watson didn’t get hurt. He was fucking awesome before he got hurt. Very little drop off.

But continue bitching bc we paid Chris over Sneed

:-) What a disingenuous little fuckwit. As if Mahomes contract hasn't been designed all this time to convert the massive 2026 cap number into a signing bonus to spread it out.
