I know Worthy is fast but when you watch Tyreek break a play open alot of times there isn't anybody in the screen or they are 10-15 yds behind him. Never seen anything like Tyreek in the NFL, he is a unicorn.

On that KR by Worthy he almost got caught by #10 (ironically)

:-)

So we now have the in game GPS tracking to back up the 40 time and people still can't just say "well he's clearly faster on the field than he looks".

As for the bold, you understand how angles work, right? Dude was hauling ass with the angle and still couldn't catch him.

I am warming up to this pick. Worthy's talents are undeniable. He is up there with Tyreek in terms of pure skill so I am not worried at all about him busting. Kid needs to bulk up his upperbody this offseason. Even 10 lbs would make a considerable difference. It's very encouraging that he stayed relatively healthy in college. The biggest surprise to me is his toughness which is unusual for someone with his frame. That's what changed my mindset about the pick.

I am not saying he isn't fast, he definitely is just don't like comparing him to Tyreek fast that is all.

You're being obtuse. It's faster than any in game GPS time Tyreek put up las year (and I'm pretty sure the last few years). Tyreek might be faster in game more consistently, but it's close.

Also, look at where #10 is when Worthy is around the 50. He's ahead of him by a couple yards, has the angle, and still can't catch him.

Ever heard of taking an angle? 10 had an angle on Worthy, wasn't much of one, but its there.

And when Worthy crosses the 50 that guy is ahead of him.

Probably am but I just don't want unreasonable expectations being placed on him. IMHO there is fast and then there is Tyreek fast.

Reply #1046 shows that Worthy ran significantly faster in a game last season than any NFL player including Hill. Taking his combine into consideration, it's safe to say that Worthy is the fastest player in the NFL.

His running style may have something to do with your perception of his speed. For instance, Pacheco is fast as hell, but his "stomping" makes him look slower than he is.

Ubeja sent me a private message saying that in his expert opinion, Xavier Worthy has world class speed!

Saying that Worthy has that kind of speed is a matter of fact, not an unreasonable expectation.

That doesn't mean he's going to be Tyreek though. I don't think anybody has that expectation.

Chiefs just need him to be Xavier Worthy. Andy's offense dictates the defense when it has speed. The last several years without that speed defenses have dictated the Chiefs offense. Could care less if he's not Tyreek because you're not replicating that.

Tyreek's top speed on that KR is 22.77.

Just a little faster than Worthy on his return. That just further proves the point that they're close.

That OU tape (Caleb Williams game) where he goes off for over 200 yards his freshmen year you can see the respect the defensive backs give him especially as the game progresses. They are off him around 10 yards at the line of scrimmage. Now that is not that uncommon in the college game, but after he burns them several times on comebackers and outs there is a play that is basically a go route where the DB is at least 9 yards back from him and immediately turns and sprints at the start of the snap...despite this Worthy catches and passes him and if it wasn't underthrown it goes for 6, he still catches it but the delay due to the weak throw allows the DB to catch back up.

You can see similar plays where they just start sprinting backwards against him the whole rest of the game, one he scores late tracking a deep ball all the way across the field. It looks like he basically barely beats the defense, but it is really reminiscent of what Reek used to do to defenses.

He may not be a volume receiver in year one, but he is going to tilt the field in our favor.
