He was telling folks that 'just chip' isn't a panacea because most OTs struggle to deal with that chip help when they don't know how the chip is going to actually go. Kingsley has no way to know that Kelce's not just going to redirect the guys shoulder but instead is going to shove him across into the adjacent gap.

A lot of the time a chip is just designed to turn a guy sideways and keep his hands down so the OT can get into him. Kelce did way more than that there and shoved him clear into the other gap.

Now maybe that was what he was supposed to do but it's also possible, even likely, that Kelce just got a little amped up and put more into it than Kingsley expected.

That is MUCH more complicated than y'all are making it. Because if Kelce doesn't blast that guy and Kingsley doesn't set up wide there, the rusher just beats him to the outside again. And Kingsley is completely reactionary there. He has no way to know what Kelce is going to do there until he does it.
Looking at that video after reading what you posted and it makes a lot of sense. Kingsley seemed like he was prepping to block outside and then Kelce shoves the defender inside which game him a free path to the QB. Maybe it was by design and Kingsley screwed up.

I mean the coaching staff knows what is going on... we started running more this season because the LT is a weakness and to keep the rush honest.
I actually thought he got deep enough for the most part, he just wasn't actually finishing his punch.

That's why I said I thought the athleticism was okay, he just wasn't committing to first contact there and it was forcing him to work from his heels.

Yes I get Fisher struggled mightily he first year starting. Even struggled year 2. He was not anywhere near this bad though.

This is KeiVarae Russell territory. I seriously have to wonder if Andy Heck has brought up the possibility that this kid just isn’t an NFL player and they blipped the pick.

Not trying to be negative here but I just don’t see anything that flashes for him aside from his athleticism on screens.
I think you are overreacting quite a bit. Give the kid a full offseason to improve before putting him in the Russell territory. Fisher struggled, but played RT as a rookie if memory serves me right.

Just find a really athletic guy with long arms and make him eat Joes BBQ for 3 years straight. Then have him standup at LT once he is 310 lbs.

We're gonna find out what the staff thinks about Kingsley's performance soon enough.

If they think he was as bad as Run does, you'll see Ethan Driskell as a gameday active next week - simple as that.

I liked some of the early returns on him in preseason games but who the hell really knows.

We don't HAVE any. So who the hell is he going to against in Camp that shows that he can't handle guys who can attack his outside shoulder relentlessly?

The guys that have killed him have just DESTROYED his outside shoulder. Over and over and over and over again.

And he just doesn't know how/where/when to aim and deliver his punch on guys like that.

Its kinda crazy to me.
Yeah, and I'm assuming maybe they thought he would handle speed well since he's athletic, but boy those feet sure are slow and heavy pass pro.

But I do think they'll demonstrate that he wasn't out there tripping over his feet on every play. He showed a decent base and functional strength. He showed solid athleticism. He showed some traits.

He just couldn't handle Bonitto at all. Especially when he was out in that 9 position. I'm hopeful someone like Keysor does a breakdown of some of the plays where he was successful because I think there were more than you realize.

There was a play where Mahomes got hit, maybe late 2nd quarter, deeper in our territory. And EVERYONE in the game thread bagged on Kingsley. I really didn't understand it because I specifically watched him on the play and he stood his guy up and then drove him inside into the trash. And eventually Mahomes got hit but it was because the pocket just got pushed in and he held the ball waaaaaay too long. But Kingsley did his job there yet he was still getting trashed because Mahomes took contact.

Maybe I missed it - I'm open to that possibility. But it's certainly not what I saw.
Yeah, I said to the Mrs our guys, specifically our offensive line, are playing flat. Even the interior guys were not good. And I don't care how much praise Thuney gets, he does not look to being back to full health to me.

Kingsley was bad but I won't write him off just yet.

I would think they just bring Smith in before they go that route but point still stands.

I would be shocked if Veach saw what we saw with Mahomes taking those hits and thinks it's acceptable to stick with the status quo.

Help on the way?

https://wnflsports.com/2024/11/12/ba...rQzUqN_0YFGK4A

(LEARFIELD) – A tweet from former Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari is getting some attention.

Bakhtiari reached out to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes saying he would play left tackle for the Chiefs if the Colorado Buffaloes beat Mahomes’ alma mater Texas Tech.

The Buffs did win and fans are speculating what might happen next.

Kansas City is undefeated but has a big hole at left tackle where consistent play is lacking.

It’s been years since Bakhtiari played regularly, but even when injured he has been one of the most effective left tackles in the NFL when on the field.

I am trying my best to be fair to this kid, but the facts are he’s played 106 pass blocking snaps and has allowed:

13 pressures
3 sacks
5 hurries
5 hits

He just isn’t playable right now and Morris looking like Willie Roaf in comparison is eye-opening.

I think anyone would agree that he’s looked worse than any early draft pick we’ve had in the Veach era. I mean Skyy was invisible but not actively losing games for us in his first 3 starts.

It’s really concerning just how bad this kid has been

He needs a full reset. Start his offseason right now, he shouldn't put the pads on again for a game this year.

Then, if he gives a fuck about his career, which I sadly worry about after seeing him show no concern for Mahomes on the ground, he will do WHATEVER it takes to improve. Work with Duke, Heck, IDC. But it should be his sole focus every day damn near all day; ironing out those really bad habits.

Seriously? You're going to subscribe to the "he doesn't care" bullshit too?

It's pure hyperbolic bullshit.

There's any number of reasons that explain that behavior. Maybe he was shell-shocked. Maybe he was thinking about how bad he was gonna get beat on the next play. Maybe he was despondent because he was letting Pat get hit so much.

But yeah, let's just jump to "he doesn't care". SMH

Yeah to me he didn’t look like he didn’t care. From what I saw he looked embarrassed and frustrated bc he was helpless out there.

OK guys, he's embarrassed whatever, you still have to be aware enough to help your QB out. If he is that ****ed mentally, he needs to take the year off on game days without a question.
