It’s not often that I don’t have the words, but this is one of those times. Today I received a message from Mrs Seclark that she asked me to share with all of you. It’s not an easy message to even type.
Sec passed away this morning after a battle with cancer and ALS.
We communicated semi regularly and it was always a pleasure. Scott was one of the best humans, who lived to love his family and friends. Never once did he complain about his challenges, he was always so positive…and usually more concerned with what was going on with me. I can’t do him justice in this message, but in some of our last texts, when I mentioned his illness, he said the following quote that defines the man for me:
“I haven’t tasted food in 3 months. But I Am Blessed! I have family and friends who love me and stay with me. I have elders and a pastor who visit me. My grandchildren are my pride and joy and they come and see me. That’s all I need in life”
He was a great, great guy and I’ll miss him on a personal level. A random poster on a message board became someone I consider one of my best pals in life. I hope I can become as good of a man as I considered him to be.
It is my hope that CP can honor him, and I will find an appropriate cause or fund that his family supports and ask those who considered him a friend, Like I did, to honor him that way.
I can’t even begin to imagine what NZoners game room looks like up there. They’re gonna have a great time watching together now without any pain. RIP SEC! We’ll raise a toast to you on Sunday! :-) [Reply]
Man, I knew this was coming but it still hits like a ton of bricks. Prayers for his family.
seclark was always a funny poster on here. He was known for one liners for the longest time. I didn't know him real well but in the few times we spoke through PMs or on the bb, he was a great guy. I'm sure he was beloved by family and he will be missed.
RIP, Mr seclark. It was an honor to know you. [Reply]
I don't pretend to have been a really close friend of his, but we did end up texting back and forth a handful of times over the past year. I got this message back just a few minutes ago:
"Hello, this is ____, Scott's wife. Thank you for the kind words. He loved his friends on the message board. He always had to have his iPad and read everyone's posts while watching the game. GO Chiefs!"
So there you have it. What a tough son of a bitch. It wasn't cancer and ALS that did him in. No.... it was the GDTs. [Reply]

This one sucks. I mean they all do, but some hurt a bit more - or a lot more. sec was one of the good ones, one of the more understated foundations of this place, and one of my all time favorites over the past 20+ years. My sympathies to his loved ones.

Didn’t have explaining to my wife why I teared up in the middle of an episode of Severance because I learned someone from a KC Chiefs message board had passed away on my bingo card last night. I don’t do that shit for my own family
RIP, Scott
I can’t imagine how much he’ll he missed by those who were fortunate to have known him in real life. I wish I had [Reply]
