Now, this is all very low stakes. I'm sure if I joined the big money leagues where I don't get to dunk on casuals it would be different.
As of now, there are 17 yes votes, 38 no votes, and 14 votes for “Rain Barrel”, so yes votes are just under 25% of votes, consistent with your claim. Of the yes and no votes, the yes votes are 37.8%, or 3 out of 8. Among people playing fantasy football in casual leagues with friends, there could be a lot of folks like you that win more than they lose, maybe even 25% or a little more. But I don’t think that are a lot of folks like you that consider themselves to be bettors but who confine their betting to taking advantage of some dumbasses who haven’t figured out you know more about fantasy football than they do. Most of the conversation in this thread and in the public space involves people betting against spreads, on moneylines, or prop bets offered by massively capitalized scammers expert at convincing dipshit voters and lawmakers that they should be tolerated and at convincing dipshit bettors to hand over their money.

Okay, as far as the number go I figure anybody who actually makes money betting on sports is going to click "yes" rather than "Rain Barrel".

I worked at a software company that handled the software that sports books used to process and handle their bets. It is incredibly hard to make money betting on sports.

I saw a guy make a million and lose a million in a single day.

For fun is fine, but don’t think you’re going to make coin doing it. Especially if you’re trying to bet consistently.

It’s tough

Definitely.😀 They’re also going to want to vote yes to get more suckers to join in the “fun”. Fresh meat is essential for successful fleecing operations. :-)

Yes it does. It is laughable. 2-3% of sportsbettors are long term winners. And a percentage of those guys lose it in the pits or on other stuff like poker because they are still degenerates.

25% is an INSANELY high percentage of winning players for sports betting. Even if you win more than half of your sports bets you still lose because of the vig. You have to win like 57% of the time long term I think to be a real winner, which is damn near impossible.

No, no you're not. But you can imagine what it would be like if you were.

Yeah this is like claiming nobody wins by playing poker. Of course the ones who know what they're doing can and often do, and those who don't or play passively lose money.

One good thing about gambling, though, is the fact that money talks and bulllshit walks. It’s nice to imagine that some of the commentators on sports broadcasts might decide to start betting and thus learn that they don’t know much more than the general public knows. Markets are pretty good at figuring out where the moneyline should be. They’re also good at setting spreads, of course, but to me the bettors who bet on the spread are even stupider than the other bettors because they are betting on something that isn’t even what the game is about. As a Chiefs fan, I don’t give a shit if the Chiefs cover a spread, I just want them to have more points than the other team has when the game is over. Fortunately, that seems to be Reid’s goal, as well.

Someone saying they're up $20k in the past year isn't crazy by any means either... you could hit one big winner for that amount in a year and break even the rest of the year (if not win $30k with one bet and be down $10k with everything else).
I bet on average around $1,000 a day. My biggest winning day so far this year was $2400. Have had several days where I’ve lost over $1000. Its not all sunshine and rainbows and I wouldn’t recommend this to most people as I doubt they can handle the swings.

How about you sign up under me as an affiliate at Bovada. Bet 100k next year and if you are winning after 150+ bets Ill just give you $1000.

Id like to do that with anyone. You Joe Schmos aren't gonna beat it.

I mean here’s my Pikkit results from 2024, all synced from the books.

This is in addition to $9k (12.67% ROI) on my wife’s accounts since I am limited on so many books.
