Nzoner's Game Room>We owe Wanya Morris an apology
RunKC 11:58 AM 11-11-2024
Didn’t realize just how bad it could be without him and boy was it bad.

Say what you want but the kid is a functional LT that is getting better. It’s hard finding average LT’s but I’d say he’s pretty damn close to average and that’s okay.

He’s the same caliber as Donovan Smith to me but he’s young and not falling apart.

Say what you want guys….getting a functional starting LT that is steady and not a bust at the end of rd 3 is an A+ draft pick.

Believe the hit rate in rd 3 is roughly 15% so getting this type of value is a big value to us.

We're the 2-time defending SB champions, have won 3 of the last 5, are currently 9-0, and are smack dab in the middle of a historic run. Not just for this franchise, but possibly for any franchise in the SB era.

I've always liked you as a poster, just wanted to remind you of the big picture. It's a weird time to be a non-stop complainer.

I hope so, he's a lot better than the 2 turnstiles we have now.

Probably not much better than Wanya Morris, although Smith is just a constant baseline of mediocre to bad LT play. Wanya is much more variable. He'll have games where you think he just might be the future at LT and then the next week he's tanking your game plan. Mahomes can deal with the former a bit easier than the latter.

I don't remember Smith being that bad, down the stretch I thought he did well. Of course the 49'ers line gave him some trouble but they're capable of giving anyone fits.

I mean, who would he struggle with. The Dolphins were pulling EDGE players off other practice squads and the Bills almost their entire back 7 playing hurt or already on IR. Against the Ravens and 49ers both the offense struggled badly, although I think they turtled up hard against the Ravens when they went up multiple scores.

Cam Robinson is a FA and I don’t care that he’s 30 next year. If they feel Wanya isn’t the answer there and Kingsley can’t play then their #1 need in the offseason is getting that guy.
You need to watch Robinson a little closer...there is a good reason that Jacksonville traded him away a couple of weeks ago and then discussed giving him a game ball for yesterday's game.

It seems like there can be no way we aren't calling Donovan Smith and/or David Bakhtiari to try to work something out. If we were that dug in on this Morris/Kingsley plan I think Reid shuts down the talk with that question.

I want to know what you all have seen that would make Wanya as good at RG as Trey?

That is like the move our RT to LT brigade.

This is what I mean about Brett Veach. He overpays for players, going back to the days of Frank Clark and MVS. Overpaying that much for Creed Humphrey, Noah Gray, Jawaan Taylor, even Justin Reid.

You can't tell me the drop off between Humphrey versus a much cheaper center would be anywhere near the drop off having turnstiles instead of a proper tackle. His cap allocation needs improvement!

Your posting style seems like you are either a former member or a mult of a present member posting things to be contrary....

Clark was overpaid....but your hypothesis on Humphrey and Gray is just plain silly....Gray has more than proved his worth and will be a key player once Kelce retires. Humphrey, along with Thuney and Smith form what every football analyst in the game is the best interior OL in the league. And Reid has been worth what we paid for him...and he is better that Tyrann Matheiu for what we have needed.

Are you a Veach dissenter?

Humphrey is a bit of a celebrity in the greater surrounding KC Chiefs map. From the looks of things

We'll see if Wayna is any good later when we play CLE and PIT. Though I don't have any illusions that he's going to hold up vs. either Garret or TJ Watt. If he does, I'll be more than happy to eat crow.

Noah Grey could be a pro bowl TE once Kelce hangs em up so that was a good call.

Back to the LT - I do see WAnya improving. Some games are still not good, but Kingsley is BAD. And there's a difference in "not good" and BAD/ATROCIOUS.

What's even worse is that Kingsley looked every bit as bad yesterday as he did in the Bengals game. Literally not one ounce of improvement.

Wanya could end up being a decent tackle, but it's so odd to me that we've never given Pat that 10 year pro bowl caliber left tackle that most QB's get.

I actual agree, mainly. There is no reason to pay a center. Pay the LT instead. Im ok with paying the other guys though. They got kinda screwed on RT as they had no other options and had to find one after Brown wouldn't take our deal.
