One of the bad parts about college football is this basically means this season is over (minus a meaningless bowl game). At least in other sports, games are important til the end of the season. [Reply]

Oh well you shouldn’t pull a bengals and get to sneak in somehow due to attrition. Florida State doesn’t deserve another chance. Neither does KU. Punish programs that show up unprepared like Colorado
If basketball did it the same way KU would have a dozen ships
*none of this applies to my favorite football team the Kansas City Chiefs [Reply]
If anything is going to force them to do something drastic at QB, it’s that the second half of the new stadium funding is not set. A blowout loss against WVU and it’s time to change the goal to a cover your ass 6 win bowl season. Ballard, amazingly, has shown he might be able to do that. Brandon McAnderson called for Ballard on KU’s radio broadcast today before the last drive.
But if the problem is that Grimes can’t gameplan against a college defense, then the problems unfortunately run much deeper than that. [Reply]

Grimes has been a disaster, but JD can’t even hit a wide open Grimm on a slant on third down.
Even with the correct play call and perfect execution from the rest of the offense, JD simply can’t physically or mentally do it. [Reply]

KU technically could still get a spot in the expanded playoff by winning the B12 (a spot is allocated for the champion of it).
Obviously that’s not going to happen with this QB though so there’s not much point in thinking about it at this point. Bowl game almost certainly won’t be happening either unless he’s benched this month. [Reply]

Back injuries ruin careers, man. That’s my guess.
You know how he keeps attempting that jump pass he did so well through last season and how he seems baffled as it one hops the receiver? That’s the physical part. It saps your lower body strength.
The mental part is where he starts double clutching every throw because he’s not sure he has the juice to make them anymore. [Reply]

The mental part is where he starts second guessing every throw because he’s not sure he has the juice to make them anymore.
I know you’re right on this. I just want to believe it’s mental. But then you see his throws to the boundary are dogshit and know he’s not there physically. Can’t generate torque
He’s breaking down like ol Glass Joe. Tough to watch your qb go through [Reply]

Honestly, it’s better if it’s physical. That’s an easy decision.
If it’s mental, you’re tempted to hold on and hope. [Reply]
He reminds me of an elderly cat that can't jump up on tables anymore. They still have the longing to jump up there but can only jump halfway until they fall on their dumb face. [Reply]
