Pretty alarmist, IMO, but possible.

Spoiler!

Well, the company that I've been contracting for the last few years has offered me a full time position, which includes a company truck and they pay for all the fuel, so these gas price increases will have a significantly lower impact on my bottom line from now on. I average driving over 5,000 miles per month. I liked those sub dollar prices of 2020. These prices are rough.

That's a lot of fuel...

And congratulations on the hire!

That is a lot of driving. Would not be a fun expense in my 11mpg vehicle.

I have been paying over 4 bucks per gallon (thanks feds and state of colorado for the taxes) for the past 8 months. Premium, German v8 SUV with a couple of turbos. I just kind of pause when I put in 23 gallons and it is darn near a mallard. I have a truck on order so I am sure it will only get worse. Maybe I will try one of them lectic vehicles. I hear the power comes from the wind.

Thanks for the congratulations. I've been waiting for 2 years to get the opportunity. It's going to be nice not running the wheels off of my own car. I've taken what steps I could to reduce fuel usage. I drive a Corolla that gets good mileage and I use the Conoco app, which takes off 25 cents per gallon. Those 2 things helped a lot, but when you drive that much, it still adds up.

Just hit $3 here in our area. Sure glad we have a Prius for the milk runs to town. Just a year and 4 months ago it was $1.49, but thanks to all the money printing, everything is going up in price rapidly. I have noticed that the repeat item groceries we buy are averaging about a 25% increase in the same time period. sigh

$3.59 here for regular.

I miss $1.69 gas with a mean tweet topper.
