A quick intro....

2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony: Start time, TV channel, date, live stream, key athletes and events

The 2024 Olympic Games begin July 26 and will be televised on NBC through Aug. 11

It's the time once again. It's time for the best athletes in the world to come together and crown champions in their various sports. The 2024 Olympic Games are set to begin this week in Paris as the world descends upon France. While there will be some qualifying events taking place earlier in the week, things officially kick off on Friday with the Opening Ceremony.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for Friday and feature several firsts, including being the first ceremony to be held outside of a stadium, as well as a parade of athletes held on the Seine River with boats for each national delegation. The boats will travel along a 3.7-mile stretch, passing by many iconic Parisian landmarks along the way. The ceremony will conclude with remarks from French President Emmanuel Macron.

Expect another gold-filled summer for the Americans as Team USA will be represented in just about every event over the course of the Games. Some of the biggest stars are back, including gymnast Simone Biles, decorated swimmers Katie Ledecky and Caleb Dressel, as well as track athletes Noah Lyles and Sha'carri Richardson. Plus, the men's and women's basketball teams look to extend their dominant runs at the games with more gold.

There will be two flag bearers for the United States when the team takes the boat down the Seine River -- LeBron James and tennis star Coco Gauff. The 2023 US Open champion was stunned by the news when it was revealed to her on Wednesday.

"I never thought in a million years I would have the honour of carrying the American flag for Team USA in the opening ceremony," Gauff said in a statement.

"I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is."

Here's how to watch the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony and highlights from the first week of competition.

How many minutes a game did she play? That is really the only stat that matters.

Who initiated the contact in the marathon? I think it was Ethiopian, so all should be good. But if it's the other girl?

There are players worth watching like arike ogunbowole or Caitlin clark. Or Paige and juju. This current olympic team best players are Tim Duncan and their guards are either 3 point chuckers or Eric snow. The next Gen are way more dynamic and for lack of a better word, they play like men. The game right now is built on being very physical but awkward basketball and that's just really boring basketball.

I dunno, the stats seem a bit hindsight-ish? Looks like their regular season stats are pretty similar... of course Clark excels at assists, too. Of course, there's the argument for the marketability of Clark versus going with a 42yo so she can win gold for the 5th time or whatever, but doesn't seem like Taurasi's been a scrub either (unless I'm missing something).

That whole thing was a clusterfuck. My wife was postulating that they upheld the challenge for Childs so they could have an all-black podium. I don't think anyone outside of the US cares about that shit, but the dumbfuck controversy and the Romanian crying (understandably) than the performances, which is awful. I have no clue who should win it, I'm no gymnastics expert, but this thing was a joke.

US was REALLY sloppy that match.
I have no idea why they just wouldn't give then both a bronze? Just wild situation

Not really. Taurasi is basically women's basketballs version of Alex morgan. They're still effective because they are all time great players. But they are an older version of their great selves. Theres a reason why people kept talking about needing her veteran leadership (even though most of these players have played in the Olympics). She was only there to earn a medal and get her flowers. She is fine enough as a player but in no way in the best of the best and it showed by how they didn't want to even play her.

Also, when you look ogunbowole and clark, they don't just have good enough numbers like taurasi. They are all star numbers. Ogunbowole claimed she didn't want to be part of the politics which implies that on top of the clark exclusion, she probably thinks that uconn has way too much power

Merely having a set team that has plays and a defensive system would have made them eons better. Almost no off ball movement and terrible spacing on offense.
This. A tiny bit of execution from superior talent goes a long way.

Fair enough, and I know there's generally a larger gap in talent than other sports so stats can be padded some and then if Clark was on a decent team, her turnover numbers would be way down and assist numbers would be better, etc.

At the very least, can we all agree that the Olympics are always better and cleaner without the cunt Russian Olympic Committee involved?

I think about this basically every race..

Those guys in the 400m and even probably 800m are coasting at a speed faster than the average Joe’s top speed for a quarter mile, half a mile, etc.
