Nzoner's Game Room>Space Exploration megathread
DaFace 09:40 AM 06-01-2014
Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

Whoot! Love SpaceX launches. I cancel all meetings during the window.

Do we know if tomorrow's 6:27-8:57 p.m. EDT launch is scheduled to have the primary stage land? I think the last one didn't because of the weight of the payload and the need keep the burn going because of the weight, not sure about this one.

Yeah, the last one was fully expendable (the first one of those since 2015). This one is a landing on the drone ship OCISLY, but it's one of those "coming in hot" landings where fuel could be an issue if conditions aren't in their favor.

From my perspective, a successful launch is a huge win. A successful launch and landing is a game changer.

I agree, what this group of people have done is amazing. And they're only going to do more.

Whoa, looks like they're attempting to recover the fairings from this one too. (Frist time for that, and they're worth about a million each.) Nifty.
