RunKC 08:53 PM 03-22-2024

Trade: Chiefs are finalizing a deal to send franchise CB L’Jarius Snead to the Titans, per league sources.

Chiefs are expected to receive a 2025 3rd-round pick, in addition to a 2024 7th-round pick flop, while Snead will sign a new contract. Trade is pending physical for Sneed. pic.twitter.com/GWjyKAgxZq

Could've easily staggered the cap hits to keep them both. But no, let's keep bloviating about how a 3rd rounder will be so useful or how he has a catastrophic knee injury (that he still hasn't missed a snap of game time from)

I'm glad Veach is running our team and not you guys.

About $180 million of the cap is going to 6 players next year (Mahomes, Chris, Thuney, Jawaan, Kelce and Creed).

Sure Clark can do a Mahomes restructure but that’s only like $20 million max.

How are you fitting another $15 ish million for Sneed?

Don't pay replacement level talent like Danna and Gray 8 million and 6 million respectively?

they had to choose between Chris Jones and Sneed and made the right choice. Also gave Kelce a (well deserved) raise as well as paying Creed. This while they are trying to make Trey work (not likely).

McDuffie is gonna be the highest paid corner in the league next Spring and Clark will happily sign that deal every time bc he’s ****ing worth it.

They weren’t paying top money for a corner in back-to-back years.

This isn’t Madden. Good grief

Maybe they didn't want to lock up that kind of money in a player that they think will be spending most of the time on the DL in the very near future.

It's that, but not only that-it's locking up big money in a player that may well not be physically able for much longer. Then you have an Eric Berry situation. Seems to me, that's a big part of the equation for KC.

I’m sure the money makes it easier. But damn what a tough pill to swallow going from the champs to the chumps.

:-) Pointed out exactly where they could've gotten the money from and the goalposts shift to 'nyeh, well, can't pay 2 CBs like that'.

The fuck you can't. You stagger the cap hits so by the time McDuffie is eating significant cap hits Sneed is gone. You have the last two years of his rookie cap hits, the 5th year option, and some book cooking on the first year of his extension. Easily doable to keep two elite CBs that by extension made this defense one of the best in the league.

Seriously, where the fuck did this phantom knee injury bullshit come from? I know the narrative was invented to make folks feel better about the shitty compensation we got back from the trade, but it isn't actually based on anything but speculation.

Its not that easy. Its not finding 15M this year, its finding 76M with a 20M SB over the next four.

Sneed is making $24 million next yet. Danna and Gray 2025 cap hits combined are making like half of that :-)

We let Ward go in FA and didn’t skip a beat.

Veach has been phenomenal at selecting the pieces of this roster while managing the cap and draft.

To criticize singular moves as if they happen in a vacuum is silly. Veach has access to the specific training and medical staff that has all the info they needed to make a decision about trading Sneed versus re-signing him and so far we are 2-0 against a couple elite teams on our way to a history making third championship in a row, while missing a few big pieces (Omenihu, Hollywood, now Pacheco etc)…
