And it seems like (Jordan Era excepted) it's always been the East.
That's why I laugh at the "tougher competition" argument. In the Finals? Sure, but mostly because of the Warriors. But in the conference? Not even remotely close. [Reply]

The bottom of the East is worse than the bottom of the West. The top is worse than the top of the West. It's just a worse conference. By quite a bit, IMO.
I dont know that I’d say that. The top of the west would clobber every team in the east. But the sixers are a top of the east team with a healthy Embiid (which probably won’t happen this season). And the Heat are a giant killer matchup who for some reason or another lost their shit this year. Last nights matchup felt like what should have been a late eastern conference matchup.
I don’t have much of an opinion on if they’re better or worse than the bottom of the west. A lot of that comment was because I think Dallas and phoenix are flawed teams regardless of conference. But miami and especially Philly at their best, which they haven’t been, are definitely as good as the best of the east. [Reply]

I'm quite convinced any of the top 7 West teams could beat any East team in a series but the Celtics this year. We'll see about Philly, but Milwaukee has been a mess all season long and aren't likely to suddenly rectify that in the playoffs. [Reply]

Embiid looks about 70% right now so that’s probably right. And there’s something in the water in Miami right now because that team just ain’t clicking right now. So that is probably true. But Philly when Embiid was 100% under nick nurse was a legitimately very good team. I made the comment more to speak to the disappointment that the 2 teams who could put up a fight are in the disadvantaged play in rounds
Yeah no disagreement on the other teams in the east. [Reply]
