No, you're being an idiot. Spending peanuts on a backup RB doesn't mean they aren't drafting a running back, too. [Reply]
Can’t believe there are people that want Kareem Hunt or Samaje Perine back.
Good fucking God man. Am I the only one who saw how slow and godawful our RB room was last year without Pacheco? These guys were as fast as Derrick Nnadi with the ball in their hands.
Mitchell is a 1 year depth piece. He’s not gonna be starting. And by midseason he’ll likely be RB3 behind Pacheco and whoever this team drafts.
He’s a young explosive playmaker with elite speed that will likely get 10 or so snaps a game at most. And $3 million is an inflated 2024 $2 million. This was a good move.
This team badly needed speed. The offense was painfully slow and the SB more than exposed that. [Reply]

Yeah I’m leaning that way too. But man perine was really good for us and this feels like a replacement for that. Hunt and perine were as good of stick movers as we’ve seen in a while at rb.
I’d still love to see us draft an explosive midget in the mid rounds of the draft. [Reply]

I didn’t say I didn’t think they were going to draft one. I was just hoping for Ty Johnson or someone a little more dependable as a free agent rather than the random flier on an often injured project as they like to do so much. But, it’s worked in the past, and this guy has way more talent than a lot of the previous attempts, so we’ll see what he can do. [Reply]

He adds speed, that's what we tend to go for on offense.
So overall agree but I don't know about calling him a "playmaker".

If Ty Johnson signs for similar we messed up. [Reply]

You solve some problems but also create others. In a third down role perine had a terrific nose for the first down marker. Hunts days as a bellcow are done but he was automatic in short yardage which we haven’t had in years. The problems last year had more to do with Pacheco regressing than these guys not playing their role. But I agree… we do need more speed and we’ve got a lot of RBs in the room and ideally we can find guys who can fill multiple roles. [Reply]
If Steele can just learn to hold onto the damn ball and can grow into the FB position, I hope that’s a good way to get Kareem’s production without wasting a roster spot [Reply]

Mitchell is not a 3rd down back or short yardage guy.
We do need a guy that can get that yard and a guy that can catch still. [Reply]
Elijah Mitchell is just a RB, he isn't some specialized role guy, this looks like they want someone to compete with Pacheco, they'll likely also draft a RB. [Reply]
