It’s not often that I don’t have the words, but this is one of those times. Today I received a message from Mrs Seclark that she asked me to share with all of you. It’s not an easy message to even type.
Sec passed away this morning after a battle with cancer and ALS.
We communicated semi regularly and it was always a pleasure. Scott was one of the best humans, who lived to love his family and friends. Never once did he complain about his challenges, he was always so positive…and usually more concerned with what was going on with me. I can’t do him justice in this message, but in some of our last texts, when I mentioned his illness, he said the following quote that defines the man for me:
“I haven’t tasted food in 3 months. But I Am Blessed! I have family and friends who love me and stay with me. I have elders and a pastor who visit me. My grandchildren are my pride and joy and they come and see me. That’s all I need in life”
He was a great, great guy and I’ll miss him on a personal level. A random poster on a message board became someone I consider one of my best pals in life. I hope I can become as good of a man as I considered him to be.
It is my hope that CP can honor him, and I will find an appropriate cause or fund that his family supports and ask those who considered him a friend, Like I did, to honor him that way.
I'm really sorry to hear this. Scott was always a very good poster and even a better person. I always had a lot of respect for him and the way he reached out to others in need, even though he was going through so much. I know he communicated with Hondo several times before Hondo passed.
Iowanian, I'm glad you had the chance to communicate with him as much as you did, I'm sure he really appreciated it. RIP friend, you were one of the best. [Reply]
While I may not post here a lot, I always enjoyed his takes on things and he seemed like a guy I'd have enjoyed hanging out with if I was back in the Midwest.
The original crew is getting thinner.
Blessing on him and his family in these times. [Reply]
Oh no, I hadn't heard about his condition getting worst, I knew of the earlier reports of his illness. This really sucks, Scott and I have known of each other since the old Star & Rivals BB days, my goodness, almost 30 years now.
We were not really close, but I do recall in 2002 when my wife became ill he reached out to me some. Scott was a caring person, willing to help in any way he could, even though we only met 1 time! He reached out a few times when I was battling 2 health issues of MRSA due to infected artificial knees over 3.5 years. His words of wisdom and faith and an uplifting spirit, as much as all CP members encouragement was a driving force that kept me fighting onward!
Now I feel bad about not returning the kind words, thoughts & prayers!
Thank you Pete for bringing this up for I would have not known, basically I didn't give him the time that he gave me! I just missed the updates on him!
RIP to my friend Sec, I know it to late to say Good Bye properly.
Pete, tell the family ( if you see or speak to them ) My Condolences!
( To some of us old timers on here, we need to somehow keep a closer connection in our later days of life, health issues come quicker now days! )
Again Scott, May you Rest In Peace, no more sickness nor pain friend! [Reply]
