Sorry, I read this on Reddit. And made the mistake of taking it as truth. I’m hoping it’s not true, and this is the only place I saw it.

Compiled notes from training camp - 07/22

- Xavier Worthy was out today with an illness. He'll likely be day-to-day until he feels well enough to practice again this week.

- Justin Reid's quad injury is reportedly more serious than originally believed. Probably initially believed to have been pulled and found to be a tear. He'll likely miss all of training camp and possibly the start of the season.

- Rashee Rice got some decent work in today. Some great plays including a crosser for an impressive 40+ yard touchdown. He was also stripped of the ball twice - once by Drue Tranquil and the other by Trent McDuffie. Rice will need to work on his ball security issues heading into this season. Probably needs to learn to just get down with the ball instead of fighting every down. His tendency to get physical even when facing down two or more secondary players leads to opportunities for the defense to punch the ball out, and they got him multiple times today.

- Skyy Moore struggled in practice today. Mahomes spent a bit of time on the side with him after the first red zone drill to try to get him on the same page. He also had an intended pass intercepted by Joshua Williams. Bad combination of still struggling with the system and not making plays on the field. Despite being a second rounder, he is in serious danger of not making the 53 man roster.

- Speaking of Joshua Williams, he was great in team practice today. He is looking like the starter that will pair with Trent McDuffie as L'Jarius Sneed's replacement. He had the interception on Moore that he then lateraled to Chris Jones for extra yardage. He also had some nice pass breakups. Works well with McDuffie. It feels like the job is his to lose right now.

- Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia continue to split LT reps. Kingsley started on the first team 11 man reps. Usually a pretty good sign of which way the coaches are leaning.

- Jared Wiley and Noah Gray split TE2 reps today. Pretty unexpected battle for the job with Gray being so solid for KC. Chiefs probably want Wiley as the red zone threat that Gray isn't and that Kelce isn't anymore. A rarely mentioned struggle of theirs last year was pushing the ball on short fields. Definitely trying to find some way to settle for less FGs.

My bad!!

According to the NFL's personnel notice for Wednesday, the Chiefs received the Exempt/International designation for OT Jason "Chu" Godrick. The second-year offensive lineman spent the entire 2023 NFL season on the practice squad in Kansas City after being allocated to the team as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program during the 2023 offseason.

Welsh rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit joined the Chiefs through the very same program this offseason. Many expected him to be the team's exempt international player.

Keep in mind that the international exemption only counts during the offseason ahead of 53-man roster cuts. As part of a new rule in 2024, all NFL teams are allotted a 17th spot on the practice squad for international players. Those players can be elevated 3 times. However, no international exemption exists on the 53-man roster once the regular season begins.

I still think he is super talented and could be a weapon.
I think it was the dropped pass/pick six in game one last year. That stuck with him mentally the rest of the year. Not sure if rust caused it though as he dropped a pass the we on here could have made and an NFL WR is expected to make. He has far too much talent for it to be anything but mental.

Is it time to bring in Justin Simmons?

Definitely, I have no issue with them trying to get as much out of him as possible, just can’t count on him like we were last year. If he even turns into a decent gadget guy along with returning punts, it’s a win. Anything more, and that’s fantastic.

I suppose this team is full of players who only know winning, so bringing in a big ol' loser bitch would add some diversity to the team

No need to bring in anybody. Jayden Hicks is getting valuable reps, and Reid should be ready to go by week 1.

We do not know this!

Just know this, the importance of starting 2-0 is a high priority!

We do not know anything!

But by all accounts from people who have observed OTAs and TC so far, Hicks looks every bit the part of a guy who will be making a real impact. The 41 is the Mic guys were talking about how Spags should designate him as the spy in week 1 against Lamar Jackson.

And while it would be lovely to start 2-0, anyone crying about a 1-1 start hasn’t been paying attention to this team and how it builds throughout the season.

When was the last time the Chiefs lost their opener then won the Super Bowl?
