Will we be able to go get help at WR now?
How will this impact McDuffie, Bolton, Creed etc. in the next couple years?
We are in pretty good shape. This may be a better deal than we think for the Chiefs. with 95 Guaranteed over 5 years. Allows Chris to stay and say he is the highest paid DT of all time with a big 5th year, and allows the Katz brothers to look good. It will be fun to see the details. Either way, I trust Veach. Chris Jones’ 5-year deal should make him the NFL’s highest-paid DT at around $32M per year. The first $95M or so are essentially guaranteed, and the final numbers are still being worked out. But a mammoth deal for a mammoth defender as a result of good-faith negotiations. https://t.co/w2Xub4OpR0

with only $95 Guaranteed he only needs 3 really good years. [Reply]
I love Chris Jones but 5 years is a long time for someone his age. Hoping that 5th year is truly a throwaway so we have flexibility if we need it. Glad the guaranteed money is in the first 3 years. This may be more of a 4 year 130 million deal. [Reply]

There’s also something to be said for rewarding a player who has come up through your organization and been a good soldier and teammate every step of the way.
Shows players the Chiefs will take care of you if you do your part for them.
Chris definitely earned this and I’m happy for him. [Reply]
