What QB would look good with the Giants or Panthers though? Our Lord and Savior Patrick Mahomes is about the only guy I think could do remotely good.

Newsflash: THIS IS GOOD FOR US. Our QB is making less than like ten other guys in the league AND OURS IS ACTUALLY WORTH IT.

This just applies more pressure to our rivals to hit on every possible draft pick and FA acquisition.
All these other QB's (including Goff) had extra cheap years in their contracts. Burrow, Lawrence, & Herbert had two cheap years remaining in their rookie contracts, which means their averages are below $45M per year. Tua, Jordan Love, and Jalen Hurts each had a cheap extra year in their contracts as well. None of them are actually above $50M per year when you factor in those old contracts, which are still part of the new contracts.

Mahomes got a pretty big raise last year where he's guaranteed $210M over just 4 years from 2023 to 2026 (above $52M per year fully guaranteed), plus an additional non-guaranteed $53M in 2027. Lamar Jackson is the only one with a contract similar to Mahomes right now. Lamar is legitimately getting $52M per year, while the others are below $50M per year when you include the cheaper money from their old contracts.

So I would say Mahomes is NOT cheaper than the other guys right now. Go look at the cap hits and you'll see what I mean. But I would say Patrick is earning his money whereas the other guys are not. He also was very lenient to the KC front office after winning the Super Bowl for 2019 season and MVP in 2018. Patrick's signing bonus was $10M (Jordan Love just got $75M) and Patrick's 3-year cash flow from 2020 to 2022 was only $65 million.

Joe Burrow after his 3rd year in the league got $45 million in Year 1 and $65 million in Year 2 of his new contract, despite still having 2 years of "cheap" money left on his rookie contract just like Mahomes. Burrow's 3-year cash flow will end up $146 million, more than $80 million above what Mahomes got in his first 3 years on the new contract from 2020 to 2022.

if you put Pat Mahomes on any team in the league they are winning at least 1 playoff game.

My how people quickly forget.
Yea because saying he isn't worth $50MM a year = he is bum. Dumb.

You are completely unaware of where this sets the market value for Mahomes next extension or reworked contract I guess.

It doesn’t matter. On a relative basis he will still be dramatically underpaid versus these other QBs. And that’s where the advantage lies. The talent per dollar spent is major value for the Chiefs whereas it’s not for others.

It matters as long as the market price for QB's continues to outpace the salary cap. It absolutely matters as the Chiefs wont be immune to it.

At some point Mahomes wont be peak Mahomes but contracts don't get cheaper.

Dak will probably get 60+ on the open market

Dude, I think it's safe to say that Mahomes is never going to bend the Chiefs over. Come on man.

Not remotely what I am saying. Its literally market value for QB vs salary cap.

Agreed on the $60M number for Dak. It will be interesting to see if Dallas keeps him.

You’re right, but I don’t care to go through and see who had existing years and at what salary. What’s important is that the new money will kick in and these teams will have to pay the piper eventually.

And when they do, whether they’re making $48m per or $55m per to Mahomes’ $52m per or whatever, they’ll be getting decent or good QB play while we’ll be getting elite production for roughly the same cost.
