San Diego doing their part. Up on Seattle 5-2 in the 6th.
Anyone good at math here? When is the earliest we can clinch a playoff spot? Would be great to see us clinch during the final homestand next week, if possible. [Reply]

I hope it is next Wednesday vs. Detroit when I am in attendance. [Reply]

That's hard to do the math quickly with there's three teams involved, but next week is definitely a possibility. There's a good shot by the end of the homestand if they can just gain about one more game on Boston and a couple more on Detroit and Seattle over the next week.
The absolutely earliest if the Royals went on a winning streak and the rest of these teams had losing streaks would probably be next Monday or Tuesday it looks like, but of course that's highly unlikely.
The kicker is starting Friday that Detroit starts their season series against Baltimore. They haven't played at all yet. They play Baltimore for 3, at KC, at Baltimore for 3 more. You'd probably rather Detroit just loses and gets knocked out, but if the Royals play well these last couple weeks... there's a world where Detroit hurts Baltimore and gives the Royals a chance to at least get the 1st wild card. Detroit's the scariest team right now, but their schedule also means we're either gaining on a playoff spot or getting a chance to catch that 1st wild card and homefield in the first round. [Reply]
