You just can't touch the crossbar because then it becomes a prop. I have seen some go up and just not touch the bar. It looks stupid doing it that way, but it shouldn't draw a flag.
Basically he's way ahead of where anyone thought he would be in his route running. Using his feet to get clean releases, uses his speed to create separation , or to eat up the space the db gives him and then makes his move after they have committed to running downfield with him...
