Ulf was mistakenly identified as the dragons baby (I don't believe that) and that the eggs he stepped into are the eggs hatched 200 years later. Seasmoke apparently looks just like one of the dragons in the original GOT stuff.

I figured Ulf stepping on the egg was taken by Silverwing as a dominance move and thus demonstrating why he was worthy as a rider.
