Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]
I love the fact that Pat and Alex have been very close together during the season. All the time on the sideline I see them talking to each other. Good for Alex for being a good teammate too. As frustrated as I was for that stretch this year, I still wish him the best of luck when he goes elsewhere. [Reply]
If the game is meaningless it would make no sense for Alex to start. It protects your starter and gives your future QB a game. It makes sense for the present and the future. You don't need your starter out there against a division rival in a meaningless game.
When I think of it, if Mahomes doesn't become at least an average QB, it will really be because he just didn't have it or because of injuries maybe.
He has perfect conditions with this team to succeed. A supposed QB guru in Reid, a great and young deep threat in Hill, a great and young RB, a top TE who should still be at the top for at least one or two more years, an OL which is at least average and young enough not to decline before at least two years, a year of learning from Smith who is the best at avoiding turnovers. I guess just the defense is an unknown for the foreseeable future.
I try to temper my expectations and do believe he will turn the ball over some in his beginning but I don't think many young QBs have ever had such good conditions to start their career. [Reply]

You don't want that. Denver's defense would crush his confidence. They desperately want to be the first team in NFL history to have the #1 pass defense in the league three straight years. [Reply]
I would start Bray against Denver, with Mahomes as backup. See if he has anything at all, maybe trade two QB's in the offseason, maybe resign Bray. [Reply]

Tough spot to make his first start however, on the road against a really good pass D.
And I guarantee it'll be like the 2013 Chase Daniel game at SD and he'll be playing with all backups...Although I don't know how smart it is to start your future with all backups in a meaningless game, but you know Reid will want to give everyone another bye week before the playoff game.
Why on Earth would the team create a QB controversy going into a potential postseason berth and risk the health of the guy they traded some valuable draft capital for? [Reply]
Mahomes starting week 17 is absolute wishful thinking. It is a redshirt season for him. And it wouldn't be a good idea at all. Smith all the way this season. [Reply]
That's going to be a tough decision for Reid. If they have a chance to give their starters a bye week before the playoffs, I can't see him passing that up just for Mahomes. It's not like he can sit everyone but Alex. [Reply]

Save the trouble. He doesn’t have anything at all.
Resigning bray for any reason is laughable. [Reply]

There wouldnt be any QB controversy. Its one game.
And like I mentioned, I also don't know how smart it would be to risk injury to our future, but I could see it happening. I could see Reid giving everyone another bye week before our playoff game. [Reply]

if they let Chase Daniel cap off 2013 in a meaningless game, Mahomes will too this year [Reply]
